Absence of Justice
The Coffee Party ^ | December 04, 2014 | Coffee Party USA

Posted on 12/08/2014 5:29:21 PM PST by Bettyprob

There is an absence of justice in our country. It is keenly felt in African American, Latino and other communities, where racial profiling has resulted in higher arrest rates, convictions and longer sentencing than caucasian offenders. We have criminalized mental illness and substance abuse; our largest treatment centers are the jails and prisons. After arrest, many people are retained without bail to await trial and chances for rehabilitation diminish as the “institution-mentality” takes root. While incarcerated, men and women are treated like animals and bullying is a survival strategy. This is the setting in which the lack of indictment in the shooting death of Michael Brown and choking death of Eric Garner occurred.

Michael Brown was not a poster child for the cause of criminal justice reform; Eric Garner was dragged to the ground for allegedly selling cigarettes. These deaths has brought to the forefront the absurd inequality of our culture and the absence of justice in a system that claims to be the best in the world. And what we see via mainstream media cannot begin to convey the rage of generational injustice that our neighbors have endured. And make no mistake. This RAGE will not go unanswered.

Millions of people are standing up and saying ENOUGH. We will not be bullied into submission nor condescended to as children. We are equals. The police and government are public servants of our collective needs. It is our responsibility to convey our needs, interact and build relationships that are healthy and dignified. The peaceful protesters are speaking for many about the need for true equality before the law.

We stand in solidarity for justice.

I've read this spiel twice now, and still cannot figure out its point.

It’s the racial profiling, not the felonious behavior, that has minorities so hard hit by the cops.

Git it.

These idiots don’t care about the black victims who would have to live under the boot of thugs and gang bangers. That’s who would take over these neighborhoods if the cops backed out. I wish we could force these liberal assholes to live in the nightmares they helped create.

::::::::::

The stupidity of the majority of the left is amazing. Total disconnect with reality and truth. Obama’s Obamacare designer is right to an extent....the stupidity is blatantly obvious. It is what gave us Obama in the WH and the horror story that has followed. God help us.

Sure you get its point, that's why you posted it. I've checked your newbie (Sept.,2014) thread postings and comments. Just as this article doesn't belong on FR, I suggest perhaps you don't belong here, either. Others will decide.

Basically it all traces back to white privilege. This is a very real phenomenon. The “privilege” relates to the fact that the visual clues a policeman - or really, anyone - sees when they identify someone as “white” (whether actually of European ancestry, or asian, it’s all the same) lead them to feel safer in the presence of a “white” than they do in the presence of a “black.”

Now if in fact a given “black” person is an upstanding citizen, he feels unjustly “profiled” by not having his appearance generate the “privilege” of a feeling of safety and comfort in those he meets. So being an upstanding citizen does not produce the same payoff in immediate respect and trust for a “black” as it does for a “white.” Jesse Jackson once admitted that he positively profiled whites if he heard footsteps behind him in the night. White privilege, and obviously Jesse Jackson knows that no government program can change his perception of the level of risk in meeting a stranger of a given race.

Only society - not government but society can change that situation. Obama says it will be a long project - but if he tries to do it by government, he can only delay the arrival of that day. Because it will change in society only when blacks accept that the reasons for their being profiled lie within “the community” - and refuse to excuse the behavior and the culture which produces it. That would require positive community organizing, in service to society as a whole. And that would require the rejection of the Sharpton-Obama model of “community organizing.” And Sharpton et. al. have no intention of peacefully accepting their own marginalization.

“...we have criminalized ... DRUG ABUSE...”??????

That right there tells you the author has burned out his brain on drugs.

My, oh my... We are MEAN to actually expect folks to obey the LAW and live DECENTLY-ACCORDING to the law!

Just, wow.

Yawn, this coffe crap is nauseating. They just want to be excused for their bad behavior. Simply declaring oneself equal doesn’t make it so. A person has to rise to being equal. You do that by not participating in criminal behavior, going to work and acting civilized. The constant whining about how pathetic you are only makes people irritated because the whiners refuse to see that they are the ones that create their own sense of being unequal.

I had to give it to Eric Garner’s widow, she said his death was not about race. She also admitted that he didn’t want to do any work and was lazy.

She said this while sitting next to Al Sharpton. This was a classic.

Pull every white cop out of every black and Latino neighborhood. They can police themselves.

Brown and Garner aren't comparable cases but it doesn't matter, the article was written to provide talking points for the Ozombies. Accuracy can't be allowed to complicate a good story.
