Women should never go to jail, no matter what the crime, be it murder, assault, illicit drug dealing, or anything else. That is the idea of Patricia O’Brien, an associate professor at the Jane Addams College of Social Work at University of Illinois at Chicago.
In an article in the Washington Post entitled, “We should stop putting women in jail. For anything,” O’Brien made the case that women should never, under any circumstances, go to prison.
O’Brien asked questions such as, “What purpose is served by subjecting the most disempowered, abused and nonviolent women to the perpetually negative environment of prisons?”
Sending females to prison, O’Brien argued, doesn’t help anything. People and children rely on women, she wrote, much more than men. On top of that, “Efforts to make prison “work” for women have only perpetuated the growth of the prison industrial complex.”
What should be done with women who commit crimes? “In Britain,” O’Brien explains, “advocates propose community sentences for nonviolent offenders and housing violent offenders in small custodial centers near their families.”
And “there is evidence that these approaches can work in the United States.”

People who work hard to build something generally don’t have time for this sort of thing. When traders were pulling in $20M/year in 2006, it was literally falling from the sky (Fannie/Freddie and Warren Buffet rubber stamping dog$hit MBS into AAA investment grade instruments churches and pensions could buy).

I’ll know that women are ready to lead the world when they unilaterally call for a reform of the family legal system and seek to amend the selective service requirement for women.
Before admitting woman the first to the military, I would have insisted amending the law on selective service to include women.
The GOP is the stupid party. Reagan agreed to the immigration deal he signed because someone told him if he paid today, he’d get his fence on Tuesday. Tuesday never came. Still hasn’t come.
We’ll see how much Charlie Brown is still left in the party in the next couple of years. We know how much Lucy is left in the Left.
Women prisoners are nastier and more violent than men. More likely to fight each other and assault prison employees.
Not sure what you would do with them other than lock them down.
Maybe they should put HER up for attorney general.

Exactly. In a marriage based on love and sanctioned by God, the prostitute’s argument falls apart completely.

Yes. This author makes a good point, without even realizing she’s making it.
Today we deal with criminals by putting them into long-term storage. Climate-controlled storage, compete with big screen TVs, arts and crafts, exercise equipment, circle-jerk counseling and rehab sessions.
These people have a debt to society. One they should be repaying.
So time to shut down the prisons, move these convicts (regardless of gender) into barracks style living (once they’ve been lo-jacked) and put them to WORK. Put the more violent ones out into the woods somewhere far, far from humanity and have them plant trees. Or build logging roads. The non-violent ones can be kept closer in, maybe get a little work release but otherwise get ojt in practical skills (carpentry, seamstressing, plumbing, etc) they can apply when their time is done.
It is difficult to overcome stupidity. And college, in many cases, will add to that stupidity.

Women can do everything men can do!! But should suffer no consequences for it!!
Perhaps just execute women five minutes after conviction for anything that would send them to jail. That way we would not have the shameful condition of keeping women in jail.
I would like to see women get treated the same as men in sentencing.

THE STUPID... it Burns hotter than the surface of the sun.
Sex or Gender if you prefer has nothing to do with the character and the capability and... yes willingness to harm someone else either physically or psychologically.
The ‘proposal’ fails on so... so many levels that it nearly boggles the mind in how to rationally refute what she has proposed.
But the sudden disappearance of male Democrat voters seems to be thwarting their clever plans... :)
