Page Plus Cellular: Yay or Nay
October 27, 2014 | This Just In

Good evening,

I've been reading up on alternatives to contract cells. Does anyone use Page Plus Cellular? If so, any comments/recommendations? If you haven't, any recommendations? I've read about Ting and Republic Wireless, but there's no coverage in our area.

Thanks, TJI

I use Metro PCS. No contact, 40 bucks a month (no stealth fees or taxes), unlimited talk, VM, text and internet (thought I don’t really use the latter). I’m happy with it.

That should read “no contract”.

Does Metro PCS use Verizon? Sprint? AT&T?

NET10 is a good alternative, 1000 mins/text/data a month for $25.00.

Happy with them for 2 years.

Virgin mobile and Metro have good reputations

I like Nextel. No one else has it, but I like to annoy people by making it chirp and pretending someone is at the other end.

They had their own system, but merged with T-Mobile last year.

Sorry, but NET10 is off the list. Customer service shouldn’t be listed in their “services” at all. The parent company is out of Mexico. You’re one of the very few satisfied customers according to what I’ve been reading. Thanks of you help nonetheless.

I rarely use my cell phone so I have T-Mobil, $100.00 per year for 1,000 minutes and texting.

I was interested in Virgin Mobile, but their coverage isn’t reliable in our area.

Thanks, peggybac. My cell is my preferred means of communication. So I need reliable coverage.

I’ve used PP for years. No complaints. I’m not much of a data user, 3G only. Word is they are going 4G soon.

Great. Thanks. How’s their customer service? I’ve read that it’s decent.

Thanks, Raycpa. Don’t know if I would qualify for that. I’ll have to read more.

I’ve had PagePlus cellular for a few years now. It’s much cheaper than Verizon, but uses Verizon lines. I have found the service to be reliable for talk & text. Their customer service is not that great, but if you set up automatic payments, you usually don’t have to deal with their so-so customer service. You cannot use a prepaid phone with their service. They offer a dozen or more phones for sale which are already set up with their service. I’ve heard that those phones are not the most modern available, but I don’t know from smartphones. I just have a plain one. Best thing is to call them to see what phones will work. I know they have to be set up to work on the Verizon network and unlocked.

Can you use your cell, or do you buy one of their phones?
