A University of Pittsburgh newspaper writer has declared it offensive to condemn ISIS. ISIS. The terrorist organization murdering innocents and cutting off the heads of journalists.
How could condemning ISIS possibly be offensive? Author Eli Talbert, a Pitt columnist, explains in a piece called "Why Condemning ISIS is Offensive." He begins by saying that ISIS "might also be a concern," but what is much, much more "disturbing," according to Talbert? Moderate Muslims denouncing the terrorist group.
First, he cites President Obama's call for Muslims to denounce ISIS as an example of "thinly disguised Islamophobia." Talbert retorts that expecting any Muslim to condemn ISIS "is an affront to all that is good and American."
Muslims shouldn't condemn ISIS because, according to Talbert, "Just because there are worse things happening in the world, doesnt mean we cant complain about things that are wrong here." As if you cannot do both things at once.
And ISIS would never take the word of other Muslims more seriously than others, because apparently they are thoughtful and not prejudiced: "If ISIS were to treat condemnation from fellow Muslims as special, then that would be an act of cultural insensitivity and maybe even religious bigotry." And ISIS wouldn't be cultural insensitive or be religious bigots, apparently.
He then demanded to know, "Where is our religious tolerance?"
Talbert then says that he does not and refuses to condemn serial rapists.

Our local University’s daily student newspaper is also chock full o’ nuts. Good for laughing at and as fishwrap. Birds refuse to crap on it, though.
Any chance this so called journalists could be air dropped directly into the ISIS camp with his journalist credentials on him? In an orange jump suit. What a stinking, puking, pig. These progressive liberals are driving me stark, raking, mad. God tells me to love my enemies, and EVERY DAY of my life, I have to ask forgiveness for failing in this endeavor. I am very weak in this area.
It is basic to Islam-it's in the Book- that murder of infidels and apostates is a duty of all Moslems. Moderate Moslems would be hypocrites to condemn Moslem violence against infidels and apostates. They would be denying their religion and thereby become apostates and liable to execution by righteous Moslems. That is, unless the condemnation of Moslem violence and ISIS by "moderates" is merely an example of Islamic prevarication for advantage, a mandated tactic right there in the Book.

Eli, you need you ass beat.
Not joking. Not in the slightest. Violence needs to be done to people this willfully stupid.
Just proves the Pitt News has not changed since the 80’s.
I’m not a Pitt student, but I was one more years ago than I care to admit. I for one will certainly condemn this particular Pitt student even though he is not representative of the entire group of Pitt students and alumni.
You just don’t get much education in public education these days.
HUH? Take the glue away from that writer and for goodness sake, don’t let him drive a vehicle of any kind!
Why doesn’t he volunteer to go over and cover the battles ISIS is waging? He could even volunteer to be a hostage and then we’d all get to see how tolerant he is with a knife at his throat.
WHERE DO THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE COME FROM? They had to have several screws loose before even attending a liberal college.
Anyone thinking the Pitt College Newspaper is a publication known for its deep thought on any matter is not familiar with this publication.
Ther Harvard Law Review it ain’t. It’s mostly foolish kiddos with one axe to grind or another spouting off gibberish in print.
I’d put it on par with those freebee mags that you can get in bars in most cities.
Those who condemn ISIS as offensive, are they themselves offensive.
Workplace stupidity works for this idiot.
Never thought I’d see such a comment on FR...I’m chuckling.
Ah, the armPitt speaks! All hail the Pitt!
The Fallout bit? There are a few of us that are Bethesda game junkies ;)
No, they get the really good drugs at Pitt.
Send the staff of the paper to go live in Syria. That’ll get their young and naïve attention.
