I raise and butcher my own chickens. make home made chicken vegie soup. Make bread from scratch, french, whole wheat, potato, etc. Butcher and prepare venison roast, BBQ, hamburger, and sausage. I know good food and how to source it and prepare it.
Making good wholesome food isn’t unique anywhere, but ask a dietitian and they will tell you “food toys” are good for a treat every now and then. (food toys are something different, not plastic trinkets)
Kids brainwashed into being little food snobs are very sad to see once they get out or the nest. They are truly lost.
No brainwashing required! The first food for all three was avocado. They beg for apples and almonds at snack time. I’m so glad I have little “snobs” that don’t eat HFCS, MSG, partially hydrogenated oils, and artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives. My “snobs” helped me plant hardneck garlic last weekend, and the oldest told me he couldn’t wait for garlic scape soup next spring. Nutrition is an investment, and my kids are very well diversified. If it wasn’t my bed time I’d tell you about the time we took them to a raw bar!
