I was there in 79 we actually tied up at the pier there for Liberty. The only time we did so in a foreign port in my four years in. I think Marseille and maybe Genoa are the only two ports deep enough for a carrier to tie up pier side in the MED. I liked it better than Dubrovnik or Split Yugoslavia I can say that much. It seemed to be OK but I liked Spain and Italy a lot better.
