Look up irony in the dictionary, and by all rights you should find a footnote pointing to this news story from CBS re: Ferguson MO: Ferguson residents frustrated over lack of opportunity.
The story notes that the previous night was sufficiently quietjust eight arrestsand that the National Guard is pulling out (meaning, productive people are being released to go back to their day jobs.)
The irony arose when the reporter spoke to local Ferguson residents. The common theme among those interviewed was outrage that local businessesyou know, the ones that had been relentlessly looted and vandalized by local residentshad not hurried to rebuild and offer jobs to local residents. Huh. Who knew that robbing and burning local businesses might prove a disincentive to them investing and hiring in the community!
The reporter also notes that unemployment in Ferguson among black men 20 to 24 years of age is 46%. Forty. Six. Percent. Presumably that figure is pre-riots. Might it have doubled in the interval?
In any case, the fault is clearly that of the looted/burned businesses. As one local young man puts it, if they dont come back and rebuild these businesses, theres going to be hell to pay.
They are particularly upset that they now have to drive miles out of the way to access the products and services that used to be provided locally . . . by the businesses looted and burned down by local residents. Oops.

Exactly, this is how food deserts are created. No other group has to complain about food deserts, do they? Where ever there are people, there are people who need food and there will be other people who will be willing to sell them food unless those business owners are driven out by the behavior or uncivilized people.
Birds are smarter than these savages.
If local residents “snitched” on their neighbors that looted and burned down the businesses, and also testified in court to convict them so that went to prison. I would consider rebuilding a business there.
I don’t think this is going to happen.
Burn baby burn dis go inferno... Fergusooon¶¶¶
Just waiting until a couple of months after Officer Wilson is acquitted.
Watts is still full of closed stores in LA—and that riot was decades ago. Unless you start opening business yourself—the burned out building will stay that way.
Let’s quote Cee Lo Green: forget you! You burned my store down, yeah I’m taking my insurance money and I’m walking away.
I recall Rush Limbaugh on the subject at the time. Rush stated that there were women who had benefit cheques and were actually crying. He said that the establishments knew them and honored their cheques, were now destroyed.
Surely someone must realize this conduct is the height of stupidity. Black leaders must step up to the plate here. They would be on solid ground to urge restraint.
Then YOU go rebuild them, Ferguson “resident”!
That requires work. No sale. As I’ve said, I could take any of them that are somewhat literate & motivated and put them on to the path to success with only a very small investment (about the cost of a pair of basketball shoes) where they’d make six figures within a year or three.
I sure the NAACP or ACLU or DOJ can get a court to order the business to rebuild and/or re-open
LOL.
How can you have riots and looting if businesses do not rebuild?
Every legitimate riot must have looting too.
Every riot I have seen from them tears up their own neighborhood
