Two Washington area hospitals said within hours of each other Friday that they had each admitted a patient with symptoms and travel histories associated with Ebola.

A person who had recently traveled to Nigeria came to Howard University Hospital in the District overnight "presenting symptoms that could be associated with Ebola," spokeswoman Kerry-Ann Hamilton said in a statement.

"In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient," she said. "Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health."

Just hours later, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Md., north of Washington, confirmed that it was evaluating a patient who "presented with flu-like symptoms and a travel history that matches criteria for possible Ebola."(continued)

They are doing the right thing. This is why.....

Just so you appreciate what Ebola really is.. It is a Biosafety Level 4 agent!

Biosafety level 4

This level is required for work with dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections, agents which cause severe to fatal disease in humans for which vaccines or other treatments are not available, such as Bolivian and Argentine hemorrhagic fevers, Marburg virus, Ebola virus, Lassa virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and various other hemorrhagic diseases. This level is also used for work with agents such as smallpox that are considered dangerous enough to require the additional safety measures, regardless of vaccination availability. When dealing with biological hazards at this level the use of a positive pressure personnel suit, with a segregated air supply is mandatory. The entrance and exit of a level four biolab will contain multiple showers, a vacuum room, an ultraviolet light room, and other safety precautions designed to destroy all traces of the biohazard. Multiple airlocks are employed and are electronically secured to prevent both doors from opening at the same time. All air and water service going to and coming from a biosafety level 4 (or P4) lab will undergo similar decontamination procedures to eliminate the possibility of an accidental release.

This is a direct result of this administration not shutting down travel from West Africa to here...The administration wants the disease in America, the question is why...

The patient at Shady Grove has malaria, not ebola.

They haven’t announced anything about the person at Howard U yet.

From the related "can you catch Ebola from an infected blanket" I read:
It has taken days for the Texas officials to persuade a HazMat crew to go into the apartment of Thomas Eric Duncan
WAIT A MINUTE. All other reporting says the hazmat crew was held up by a pencil-necked [ok, I added that] bureaucrat because they didn't have the right transport permits. This article makes it sound like the crew was chicken.

Last week the statement, “Yippee, I only have malaria!” would have sounded strange.

The game of Ebola Roulette continues...

*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin…BANG!

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

We’re gonna need

a bigger cart!

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

CDC says will NOT give Ebola Test to D.C Patient who may have Ebola

Wolf Blitzer was shocked on this incredible statement that the reason why the DC patient will not be tested for Ebola is because we should "Not "FIXATE" on Ebola".

The nation has lost it's collective mind for insanity.

Yeah - like the Ebola Vomit sidewalk pressure-washer crew.

Once we start hearing about a growing number of cases in Mexico, the panic button will be officially pushed and the Left will gleefully start taking steps toward permanent martial law...
