the % are against unknown attack vectors. What do you expect for free ware. when you match head to head it does very well with the caveat don’t go to sketchy sites.

I used AVG for a long time but, like other people here, found that it became a resource hog recently. I switched to ClamAV, which eventually became Immunet. I’ve been happy with that.

I still do an occasional scan with MalwareBytes.

Avast keeps bitching at me about something called “General Crawler”, but if I select to go ahead and remove it, it refuses because when I install Avast, I always decline the browser addon dreck-ware they try to foist on you. Which in turn makes me wonder if General Crawler is a legitimate issue or just something they made up to browbeat you into taking their crapware. Anyone know?

Just curious do you have a Dell with W/8? I get Win32:Drop-gen warnings several times a day. No info on it last time I looked. Some freeware antivirus seems to give false hits. It also keeps hitting on my Deer Avenger game program.

I've noticed something else about Avast. They have their own names for what they consider risk that you won't find in other AV programs. Most are pretty standard in names for simplicity sake. Avast IIRC is out of Europe.

Another thing I've noticed as of late is a SuperAntiSpyware update pop up I keep getting. I'm leery of pop ups like that. It "LOOKS" like it's theirs and is likely legitimate but you never know. One wrong click can ruin a persons day or even week. I go into the program manually and update definitions and get no prompt from their program there that a program update is available which makes me more suspicious of that pop up.
