I won't let Bush II off that easy. Right after 9/11 Bush had a unique opportunity, an opportunity to crush radical islam into dust everywhere it was found. Every civilized nation in the world would have joined that cause.

But instead Bush rambled on about "religion of peace", as you noted. So no, Bush didn't just set us back 25 years. There is no grand strategy. No grand coalition. Bush probably set us back permanently.
