I particularly remember how criminals were targeting people with rental cars in Florida Rental cars at that time had license plates that ended with the letter "Z," the criminals called going after those cars (for cash, expensive cameras, etc.) "Z-ing."
Finally the rental car companies changed the license plates.

Finally the rental car companies changed the license plates. As I recall almost all rental cars also had a company bumper sticker or window sticker with the company's name or logo that identified the car as a rental.
As a result of the Florida criminal activity the companies changed that practice nationwide.
