I was in Japan some years ago, and discovered to my amazement that Budweiser is considered a “premium beer” there.

I've heard that although Foster's is marketed here as a great Australian beer, its pretty much Australia's version of PBR over there.

I’ve heard the same thing about Corona. Down in Mexico, it’s considered a substandard beer but they marketed it well up here and sales took off.

Years ago while visiting LA there was an ad campaign for Fosters with lots of Australian images and the word imported all over them. On close examination of a Fosters can it says brewed in Canada. Yeah it’s imported but not from the country the advertising implied.
