I never believe government manufactured numbers. They will always be adjusted, massaged, and manipulated to achieve a happy ending for the propagandists attempting to control and fleece the sheep. Yesterday, the government produced retail sales numbers for August that were weak and the corporate MSM propaganda machine immediately threw up bold headlines declaring how strong these numbers were. Positive stories were published on the interwebs and Wall Street hack economists were rolled out on CNBC, where the bubble headed bimbos and prostitutes for the status quo like Jim Cramer and Steve Liesman declared the recovery gaining strength. Woo Hoo.
If everyone else is whipping out that credit card, why aren’t you? Credit card debt has reached a new post recession high. They tell me consumer confidence is soaring. Forget about the 92 million working age Americans supposedly not in the labor force. Forget about real household income hovering at 1999 levels. Forget about median household net worth still 30% lower than 2007. Forget about what you see with your own two eyes in malls, strip centers and office parks as you motor around our suburban sprawl empire of debt. Those Store Closing, Space Available, and For Lease signs mean nothing.

Very interesting, and eye-opening, video clip (post #50). I remember reading about a lady who wanted to open an ice cream shop in a mall (I forget which state). She rented the space, applied for the necessary permits, and got ready to hire some workers.
A year later, she still was waiting for some of the permits. She was paying rent, but obviously could not open her shop. You'd almost have to be crazy to start a business in the USA today. Sad.

I remember when you could buy a pair of slacks that were lined and actually fit for under $100. Finally found one pair last weekend. But they were $285 and the quality was very poor. Decided I would start sewing again so got the machine out, tuned up and ready to go. Then went on the hunt for fabric. Just two stores within a 50 mile radius and the fabric is just pure crap.
Was going to knit sweaters for everybody for Christmas but the yarn selection is so poor so may rethink that.
Or just flat out ugly.

I was thinking more along the lines of calling "Dollar stores," "Obama stores," like "Hoovervilles."
Look America is now 18 trillion dollars in debt.
Both political parties, are supporting exporting ever-more American jobs, while the number of unemployed Americans continues every higher.
Currently somewhere around 93,000,000 Americans, are unemployed.
Just one generation ago, America led the world in almost every regard,
Bring back American jobs.

I remarked upon this in my previous post just because I think it shows the current desperate attempts of many businesses to get you into the door. Kohl's is virtually empty every time I've been in there this year.
O'Reilly ought to send his "Inquiring Reporter", Jesse Watters, out to ask questions inside the dying department stores and outside the dying strip malls instead of always interviewing the socialist "gimme" airheads on the college campuses who don't even know who the V.P. of the U.S. is.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think you are listening to the root cause of why American jobs are going overseas. You say it’s the Corporations fault. Are you proposing government owned corporations? Isn’t that Communism? The only way jobs come back is for the government to create a climate for the private sector to profit, Period.

As in, American workers, in American factories, making things.
The political party which wakes up and starts supporting American workers, will lead America.
Which party that will be, is not yet decided.
I only go to Kohls out of desperation(bra shopping for my daughter)aside from the twice a year converse shoe run(also for my daughter)

Remember that old slogan "You'll wonder where the yellow went..."
Now, when you're in Home Depot, you're constantly wondering where the orange went.

The last time I went to Kohls was about 5 years ago
There was one register open.
The clerk asked the woman at the front of the line if she would like to apply for a charge account and the woman said she would like one.
We all then had to wait in line while the woman filled in an application form. Astonishing.
I never returned.

I am concerned because we have let our manufacturing be exported.
In a very large part.
China is not a country to be taken lightly. They are very serious, and they have a (bunch) of people.
They are very close to becoming the world’s biggest producer.
Period.
A lot of that, has been from “American” companies which really aren’t American now.
China is a huge challenge to America.
Bigtime.
We are as usual fighting the last struggle, while China has spent the entire last generation preparing for the challenges we face in the future.
We need to bring back American manufacturing.
