For the terrorist group known as the Islamic State, Syria and Iraq were a good place to start their campaign, but in order to survive and prosper it knew from the outset that it had no choice but to set its sights on the ultimate prize: the oil fields of Saudi Arabia.

ISIS wants Mecca and Medina also. I think they are a different sect and are larger so they think they can win.
I don't see how that would be possible. Right now ISIS has neutral Turkey at it back.
But if ISIS went for those oil fields, it would have millions of hostile Shia (in southern Iraq) at its back. No way could ISIS overcome that.
ISIS wants to blow up Mecca, because they believe that it will bring on the end times as postulated in the Koran.

I believe they have been selling it on the black market. Once it gets out there past the first level, everyone buys it, I think.
