More than half of the US population – 165 million of 308 million Americans – is now dependent on the state in some form. Of these, 107 million Americans rely on government welfare, 46 million seniors collect Medicare and there are 22 million government employees. The problem lies within the definition here.
Welfare.
Welfare is NOT Social Security benefits, Medicare, retirement pensions and the like. Take these benefits paid in by the makers and define welfare as freebies that takers get - then get back to me with the real numbers.

TRUE, but if you consider what they’ve done with all of the above, the financial situation of this country is even worse...
ALL of the above are RUNNING OUT OF MONEY. Nothing was investment, all spent and all we have are IOUs and empty promises for the future.
