We went through this in DC after the main strip through the downtown was looted and burned following MLK's death. It took until around 2002 for the area to start coming back.

I wonder if they had any ammo for those M14s? I heard a story of National Guardsmen during one of the late 70s Miami riots having their M16s stolen from them by gang members since the GIs wete defenceless.

Same for Madison Ave in Chicago with the MLK riots. Parts were a desert until the late 90s.
