This is an asinine article.

I agree. If they climed naked the analogy. How long does it take for an oxygen tank to decompose?

But if you carry it up, carry it down.

I wonder if they left that trash up there? I bet it was gone when they left. Another Issue, all these enviromentalist cloimbing and they are the ones polluting.

It’s easier to pack it in than it is to pack it in, use it, climb a mountain, and then pack it out.

Dang. I forgot about the strenuous part of the trek. And, I don’t think WasteManagement picks up in the area either.

Obviously no one litters with their corpse on purpose. But, the more climbers on the mountain, the more dangerous the routes become, and the more corpses there will be.

It all depends on perspective. When I was in Mongolia I noticed quite a few old tires along the remote roads and commented how bad that looked. It was then explained to me that they were important safety tools. If you car broke down, you got a cup of gas out of our car and used it to light a tire on fire to send up a signal for help.

Someday one of those mountain climbers is going to be thankful for the junk pile left be hind as he makes a small stove and burns the turds for a little heat to survive...........

“LOL! I guess I missed something there TexasGator. I didn’t say nobody should go and I thought the Doc addressed some controls on the folks who make the trek.”

The dear doctor makes fun of the environmentalists and says this is more about limiting access than about cleaning up the environment.

I’ve heard about the garbage.

http://www.nbcnews.com/science/environment/nepal-enlists-mt-everest-climbers-clean-trash-strewn-slopes-n44276

It should be kept clean, or get a fine. There shouldn’t be restrictions on the number of people trying to climb as long as they take out the trash. I hate litter.

It’s weird how one can find “trash” in the most unlikely places. Maybe you ain’t the first one to be there. :>}

“how long you been at free republic?”

I see this comment all the time.

Would you please clarify for me the amount of time you have to be on FR before an opinion can be expressed without a snarky response.

I didn’t catch it the first time but I think I saw a ‘/s’ when I went back and read it.

I doubt Waste Management does, but maybe Himalayan Adventures or Bob’s Mountain Experiences should. They charge a king’s ransom for “guiding and provisioning” services. When I go to a hotel, I don’t expect to have to wash my own towels. And these outfits charge a lot more than any 5-star hotel.

Better yet, let the governments of Nepal and Tibet pay Sherpas police the trash. You have to buy a very expensive permit to try an Everest summit. Let them pay some of the locals from the proceeds.

Find a way to float it out of there. Yes it will land somewhere sometime but probably be easier to dispose of at a lower altitude.

The people finding all that trash may actually be able to use the metal for something.

Hire sherpas to carry in hot air balloon like devices that can be used to lift the trash out of there and where ever it falls later the locals would probably be able to use it for something.

Just a thought. Probably went over like a Lead(Led) Zepplin.
