I think I see what you mean.

Google maps shows a foot trail leading from the backside of one of the commercial lots on the East side of Florrisant, just a few lots North (towards the QT) from the Ferguson market

What I could not see is continuation of that trail going between houses to reach Ellison, which left me wondering of if there might be a gate in a fence at one of the properties along Ellison which the residents have used enough long enough to make that trail.

Google maps for

It also seemed like if one did walk behind the buildings (but not cross over to Ellison) then they would have to walk around the side of buildings facing Florissant eventually, before reaching Canfield, for there is high fence which could block walking behind buildings all the way from near the intersection of Ferguson @ Florissant to Canfield.

Then again, one of the first fences, near the Storage units set back off Florissant (on the eastside, opposite Ferguson Market) appear to have a section of fencing peeled back, enough that a person could easily walk through. Just to the North of that 'hole' in the fence, is the footpath which clearly visible from the air or satellite view, whatever the case may be.

Either way, if they reached Canfield by crossing over to Ellison first or not, what you said here makes a lot of sense;

Poor guy. Johnson I mean. A few lies here and there...in a world FULL of them. But his own in this don't work. That is if that information did come from Johnson. I don't remember if it did...or if there is possibility the the QT store was just assumed by someone else, then that repeated as rumor. What we can assume is street rumor more than factual sense has been driving the initial reactions (just like Trayvon?).

In the video from the Ferguson Market, when Johnson is handed the 'rillos, he looks at them like "wtf am I supposed to do with these?" indicating to me that it is likely the store robbery was not planned by them both.

It's possible it wasn't even planned by MB.

Just think --- they go into the store planning on by a package of Swisher Sweets, but say "box" so the merchant hands them an expensive box rather than a smaller package --- or the Asian merchant tries to sell a "box" (which holds several packages) --- MB is both offended, and has his own selfish greed and desire kick in, with theft justified in his own mind due to how everyone just knows how much the oriental/Asian shopkeepers are greedy rassists', etc.

18 years old, hanging with a guy 4 years older (Johnson) that he would like to impress how tough he is...

What does Johnson do with the two boxes (or packages?) of 'rillos he was handed? After taking a momentary step towards the door when the much larger MB does, he steps back in the opposite direction, also when MB does (back towards the counter, Johnson rotating closer to the counter this time, instead of his original position which was to the right rear of MB) after I assume they both hear the shopkeeper say the items must be paid for. After a few moments (less than ten seconds later?) Johnson puts the two packages or boxes he was handed -- back on the counter.

It looks to me like Johnson was swept up in events rather than the cause of them, uh, other than the QT being burned out? A misstatement, or deliberate lie made the hoodies think the QT "snitched", when in reality the QT likely as not suffered years of product shrinkage (shoplifting) as stores of that type nationwide are subjected to -- with this usually worse in 'black' areas, though I guess if there could be 'poor white' areas held up for comparison, it could be as bad or nearly so (if not worse, I dunno).
