The guy suffered from severe depression, i.e. he wasn’t thinking rationally.

You can spout all of that Suicide is selfish, etc., all you want but the fact remains that a severe form of depression makes things look totally different for that person rather than someone functioning normally.

I suffered terrible depression after my Mother died many years ago and contemplated the unthinkable. I dealt with it and got over it.

But there are people who suffer such overwhelming despair that nothing seems to help and someone like Robin Williams could not cope for reasons we can’t fathom.

So I am afraid your advice is not a one size fits all cure.
