Do you have a cost or source for that?
The Nissan Leaf is very popular around Atlanta. 2 year leases are very common, as between state tax credit and gas savings the car is practically free. In 2 years, like the lead article notes, there will be a glut of used ZEVs that nobody will want because technology will have improved and eventual battery replacement cost will be around $14000. Oddly, might be a great time to buy one! The Leaf is a good fun car if it’s limited range matches your lifestyle (does mine).
It seems the replacement cost for a Chevy Volt drivetrain battery varies from free to $34k.
I saw a replacement for the Prius batteries a few years ago. $7,000. And projected to do it twice during the life of the car.
We pay about $4,200 a year for gas. Two gas powered cars.
Our son bought a 5 year old Prius about a year ago, it’s like new and he loves it for a work commute car. Bought it cheap and it gets 45 to 49 mpg depending on time of year.
They don’t have the lithium ion batteries like Volts and are much cheaper to replace but his are doing great so far. It also has considerable room inside for a small car and it’s 5 passenger.
I would not say that I hate NLPC, more that I am bothered by their distortions of the facts in order to advance a political agenda.
I think there are some conservatives that would appreciate getting all the facts that are related to depreciation as I outlined above. However, there are apparently others who are so overjoyed by an anti-Obama article that anyone who points out any deceit within it is labelled a troll.
@ctdonath2, Nissan recently stated that a replacement Leaf battery pack would cost $5,500 with the trade-in of the old battery.
