You are correct. He was the Director of the Federal Security Service, the successor of the KGB (Committee for State Security) from 25 July 1998 to 29 March 1999, though.

You are right. It is late and I had some other things to do but I should have taken the time to check for his exact title before I posted.

But my point still stands. Putin entire career was to further the aims of the evil empire. Ronald Reagan helped bring down the evil empire. Putin worked for evil, Ronald Reagan worked against evil.

They could not have been more different.
