Miami Cop in Trouble after Pulling Over Speeding Driver, who Turns out to be internal Affairs
LiveLeak ^ | 14 July, 2014 | Miami Police Officer

Posted on 07/16/2014 9:06:17 AM PDT by marktwain

A Miami police officer pulled a car over for speeding last month, which turned out to be a plainclothes internal affairs lieutenant who shoved the door open on the officer after refusing to provide his drivers license, leading to a struggle on the side of the road that was caught on camera.

As the two were on the ground wresting, another three Miami cops who just happened to be in the area pulled up and piled on the screaming driver– only to pull off when they realized the man at the bottom was an internal affairs lieutenant from their own department.

That was when the officer Marcel Jackson, the cop who initiated the stop, was sent to his patrol car and internal affairs Lieutenant David Ramras assumed control of the situation.

Realizing the outranking officer with more than two decades of seniority over him was going to turn him into the aggressor, Jackson pulled out his cell phone and began taking photos of the officers that began arriving.

But then a cop ordered him to stop. And another cop later ordered him to delete the photos.

However, unknowing to the other officers at the time, Jackson had video recorded the entire incident with his GoPro camera, which he had attached to his dash, but shoved in between seat after realizing they were turning against him, keeping it recording to capture the ensuing conversations. The department does not use dash or body cams, so it’s not something they would expect.

That is fascinating.

“Jackson is as militant as they come. And Ramres is an arrogant asshole.”

Maybe we have two jerks going after each other here. It did not look to me as though the Internal affairs officer attacked Jackson, because the door did not hit him very hard. The idea that this video was a set up by Jackson certainly is possible.

An apparent quote from an LEO forum:
Jackson is as militant as they come. And Ramres is an arrogant asshole. That’s a bad mix. Jackson definitely knew who he was. He just picked the wrong battle. He’s gonna lose in the long run. This administration is good at covering **** up.

Yeah, except when there are viral videos.

The rules changed a few years ago. And Ramres is going to be another casualty.

Just as there are not as many homosexual as the media would have you believe, there are not as many bad cops either. But about 50% of them were at least motivated to become cops by their inner brown shirt (I got that figure from a cop who detailed what he was talking about).

Now, it doesn’t mean that 50% are all bad, but I always play it safe when I come into contact with police officers, and the shorter they are, the more polite I am - unless my gun is bigger than theirs.

My theory is based on personal observation, not media. And by personal observation, I mean a lot of very conservative leaning message boards are full of cops and ex cops - and there is a blue wall that is shocking. They side with cops under all circumstances. They think we’re crazy to think that they “work for us” - and they think it’s fine in large part for cops to be assholes and flaunt their power.

And these are CONSERVATIVE sites….largely. Being a gummint employee is a cancer to one’s soul.

Of all the people this Lt. could have picked to get belligerent with, what looks to be a 6’4” guy obviously in great shape should have been the last one on his list.

Stupid must be a job requirement for Lt.’s in Miami. Luckily for the good cop he was smart enough not to allow himself to be set up. Good for him. No one should be above the law if the law is constitutional, if it is not ignore it.

Yep. As one ages AND pays attention, one realizes that cops are people too. And every job impacts your private life and world view. Being a cop is no different.

When you are a cop, people respond to you differently, both in your private life and on the job. It creates certain attitudes that few human beings are immune to.

It’s why I can talk about cops the way I do here, yet when I meet them in the real world I cut them HUGE slack and, honestly, I get along with all of them very well. It’s because I apply the Christian concept. “They” are not cops. Each one is an individual made in the image of our Creator. And each one, like me, has his own strengths and weaknesses - His own personal “demons” to slay.

But knowing what I know, this is why I treat each one line an unchained pit bull that I just came across. Many here say they are actually a very gentle breed, but it’s best not to antagonize it.

‘This will not go well for the ranking officer.’

According to the article he has since been promoted.

It is a question of who set up who. Looking critically at the video, I do not see any evidence of the Internal Affairs guy speeding. His “attack” on the police officer (Jackosn) seems particularly ineffectual. It almost looks as if Jackson deliberately falls down, at least it could be interpreted that way...

If Jackson is savvy, he could have set this up, knowing the temperament of the IA Lieutenant.

He could have set the guy up but if I were pulled over and opened the door striking a cop to any degree I would have got my ass kicked too.

I doubt it was a set up because he ran the plates and all the IAD guy had to do was what we all have to do, pull out the docs and clear it up. IAD turned it into a confrontation with his door. Didn’t have to happen but that is what you get when you think you are above the law.

I kinda enjoyed seeing him tossed to the ground, if he acts this way to a fellow cop think about what he has done to normal folks in the past. Just like my mom whipping my butt just because she knew I had done something wrong she just hadn’t found out about yet. She was usually right.

Looks like this is a textbook case of why honest people may want to record everything around therm in certain situations.

About two months ago I bought one similar to THIS . They take a cell phone battery to run as well as off the cigarette lighter. Bought mainly for fender benders, but lately, because of the actions of some police, it has taken on a higher favorable factor.

Luckily, I haven't had to depend upon it.

All true, and in the past few decades, there is a lot more cop union activity geared towards serving the cops, not the public, often at the public expense. And more cops think like that now than in the past, for the reasons you mentioned.

Apparently, we are risking our lives allowing them to do so.

‘Looking critically at the video, I do not see any evidence of the Internal Affairs guy speeding’

The video I watched started as the IAD was coming to a stop on the side of the road, only saw a couple of hundred feet of the car still rolling. I don’t know, do wonder why that part of the video did not show the speeding. It was edited out most probably, you could be correct but until we see the entire video we have no way to know for sure.
