The purpose of fuel efficient cars is to use less fuel, the incentive (besides "saving the planet") is saving money.
If you remove that incentive, then only a few eco-nuts will bother paying extra for hybrid cars.

So, I pay 18.4 cents a gallon tax on my gasoline. 10 gallon tank, $1.84 per tank. 300 miles per tank. Basically I pay 1.63 cents per mile in taxes already.

How much per mile do they want to charge me after they eliminate the gas tax and go with a per mile tax?

Funny how they don’t mention that.
