The movie "1776" is one that I always watch at this time of year. May not be 5 stars but it does pretty good for a brief précis of the time and state surrounding the Declaration. As can be expected from a Broadway musical adaptation, it has some genuinely good music. My heart-strings are always plucked by "Momma, Look Sharp", and the "Finale" which celebrates the signing, makes me proud.

Caesar Rodney's Ride is shown here and like much else in the movie (and play) many liberties are taken with actual history, but in defense, it is a comedy musical. I'd love to teach history starting with this movie and then use it to dive into the complexities that it can only give light coverage.
