FWIW good Mexican food is actually New Mexican food. What they serve in old Mexico is bland and tasteless for the most part.

What they serve in old Mexico is bland and tasteless for the most part. Probably some truth to that. Most of the people I know who don't like Mexican food say it's because they can't tolerate hot, spicy food. In actuality it's mostly very mild but they don't know that because they avoid it like the plague.

New Mexico has great Mexican food, but so does Texas, they are two different styles, and California Mexican is the least flavorful.
