SC is nice too if you don’t mind the heat. Aiken and Lexington are great places to live.

I enjoyed my stays in SC. I had a girlfriend in Wedgefield,(near Sumter) quite a few years ago.
Then, and after, Pawleys was a favorite, especially on the 4th of July. Sadly, the Cassina Inn was taken out by a hurricane.
