What’s the big deal, Kart? If there is a REAL outbreak, then everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is confined to home for at least a month. So those people with food and water (especially water) on hand for 30 days or so will be JUST FINE.
Now, I would REALLY HOPE that ALL FREEPERS have a way to provide for their water (and food, if not overweight) for at least 30 days. If not, they deserve what they get.
Ebola is always going to be self-limiting — the problem with a virus that kills quickly is that it loses vectors too quickly to spread it .....
Been there, done that, during the swine flu epidemic. I didn't have swine flu. But once they put me in quarantine, I couldn't get out for four days.
I would say you should be prepared to shelter in place for at least 2 months. I read that most pandemics peak at 6 weeks but it would still be around.
Unless of course they were exposed to it before they were quarantined in which case, they and their entire family will likely die regardless of how much food and water they have.
