God loves those who wrestle with Him! Jacob was a schemer, conniver, wheeler-dealer and had few traits of righteousness.....BUT, he wrestled with God and was blessed.
But actually his first blessing came with his genes, grandson of Abraham, and was first manifest right after he swindled his brother and deceived his father! When he slept on the rock at Luz, God did not rebuke him at all - but just showed him grace.......
God wants us each to grab Him and refuse to let Him go......

I looked it up. You’re right. How did I miss that? I knew Jacob was given the after wrestling with God but thought it meant “Friend of God”. I bet it was when I had a sorry Nelson Reference Bible and the footnote lied to me, as that Nelson Bible often did.
