Might want to stash an encyclopedia or one of those how to fix anything books.

For preppers in the Louisville area, Shooter’s Supply has .22LR, but they are limiting you to a single 50-round box per day (unless you purchase a .22 firearm, in which case you are allowed to get 200 rounds). They have CCI Blazer for $2.98 a box.
While it’s not much, it is available if you live or work near the Westport Road area. A friend of mine works right up the road, so he stops in every afternoon and picks up a box.

I chopped some wood this week in my effort to get back in shape after a lazy winter.

My conclusion...what good is it being a prepper if you aren't in great shape?

And I was in pretty good shape last fall. Now...not so much.

I found a fallen tree in the woods behind my property (wetlands) and will spend at least 30 minutes a day chopping from now on. Plus getting back into Crossfit and running and riding the bike.

I am gasping for air now but in a month or so, I will be back in shape (and I am 65).

I challenge all my brother and sister Freepers to join me.

Start slowly and build steadily.

It is amazing how many friends and family laughingly ask "Why do you need so much ?" Their assumption is that a couple extra cans of soup will be enough until 'someone' fixes distribution problems. Stupidly, one month, I forgot to pay my electric and water bill to the city. I had been travelling and it was the days before I set up auto-bill pay. They shut me down on a Saturday morning and wanted a ridiculous amount of money to come on the weekend to turn it back on. BUT, Monday, was only $20. (Yeah, my fault) I said I'll see you Monday, took a Navy shower with some rain bucket water, cooked dinner over a handmade alcohol stove and was quite comfortable over the weekend. I can only imagine the catastrophe if something so simple had happened to people I know who have NOTHING but a couple extra rolls of TP and a cell phone as their back up plan. They would simply panic.

Thanks for keeping the prepper spirit alive on FR, Kartographer!

Today, I planted the first seeds in the garden beds at my new place. No idea what the shade is like in the summer, because I haven't been here, but hopefully I put stuff in the right place.

I also beefed up my ammo supply a little more. For now, we have stable prices on 5.56mm, 40S&W, and 9mm, so I am stocking up.

In the “good buys” category, I just got an almost-new Back 2 Basics strainer for $23 from the Goodwill auction website. I was checking some of their other listings, and you can get a lot of good homesteading equipment from there. Makes me wish even more that my house was done so I had room for all that stuff!

The strainer I got is the hand-cranked kind that sends tomato puree out one side and the seeds and skins out the other. I’m hoping it’ll make my canning easier this summer. If it works, I’ll invest in the extra attachments for grapes and berries and things. It would be nice to have something to help me process wild grapes more easily.
