New report shows the “vegan” lifestyle is just another liberal lie

A new report from the Medical University of Graz in Austria presents evidence that the “vegan” lifestyle is actually dangerous. The study found that purely vegetarian diets lead to poorer general health and a diminished quality of life marred by both physical and mental problems.

In spite of the vegan tendency to smoke less if at all; have higher socioeconomic achievement, eat less fat, get more exercise, eat more veggies and fruits and drink less alcohol they do not have a better life style by objective standards.

Vegans suffer from higher rates of cancer; are twice as likely to be plagued with...

Vegans seem to have mental problems to begin with. Being “different” is usually a cry for attention, like liberalism or homosexuality.

That seems contrary to what we know about blood sugar, which is fat and protein help lower blood sugar. Unless they are vegan that isn’t eating fruit or grain, which would be torturously restrictive.

Agreed. The Atkins diet will control blood sugar. All carbohydrates are sugars in the human body. There are essential proteins, fats and minerals, however there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.

Low carb diets will control blood sugar almost immediately and independent of weight loss. Further, triglyceride levels will also be brought under control. With the addition of Niaspan HDL and triglceride ratios will improve rapidly to below 2. This ratio is receiving a great deal of attention now, since it seems to be the fundamental marker for heart disease independent of LDL levels.

Saturated fat and B12 are essential for human life. B12 can be obtained in nature ONLY by eating an animal product. Plants contain no B12. B12 is produced in nature only by cobalt-fixing bacteria, some of which have a symbiotic relationship with ruminants and other animals and thereby inject B12 into the food chain.

Meat-eating adults store B12 in their livers and that liver supply can compensate for several years of a vegan diet before giving out. Children, on the other hand, have no such supply and encouraging or acquiescing to a vegan diet for a child is tantamount to child abuse, little different than starving the child of calories.

Ask any good conservative Ped about the bad health that vegan babies have if they survive their mother’s pregnancy and delivery.

If a vegan mother wants to raise her baby as a vegan, does that mean she doesn't nurse? After all, milk isn't vegan.

(Sorry, I ask weird questions sometimes.)

I was toying with some nutritional spreadsheets and decided to try finding a vegan eating plan that would provide all the non-animal-based nutrients necessary. I never did find one, and I was working on it for 2 days. All the ones I came up with required an ungodly amount of food, and still came up short on choline and calcium.

The choline might explain a lot, it's essential for proper brain function. It's only found in trace amounts in vegetables, but is abundant in eggs, milk, and meat.

My husband trusted his doctors and had surgery. I will say he has swung the other way in eating. I think he just needs to eat a healthy balanced diet.

Supposedy, a low fat diet is good for prostate cancer, but he can do that and eat fish and chicken.

I think processed foods are really bad, but I eat them all the time for convenience.

The key in any cases is "moderation". Veganism and vegetarianism is extremist behavior at best outside of demonstrable medical necessity. At worst it is a mental disorder in alignment with other extremist behavior where one exceeds the design tolerance or utterly fails to maintain the human body. It can be, as per above with no proven medical need, a form of self abuse and worse if inflicted upon others if in practice or via constant mewling and complaining.

I will have none of it outside of a proven, life-saving need.

And you can’t get an adequate supply of B12 from oral supplements. Needs a shot in the butt.

There was a vegan cook on Chopped once. They gave him only not animal products. But he balked when they gave him honey. It was funny to watch him struggle with it. Poor abused bees. I think he finally used a little of it. They give pork to Jews and Muslims. Interesting show.

“And you can’t get an adequate supply of B12 from oral supplements. Needs a shot in the butt.”

For most people, the oral supplements will work. But if you have low/no stomach acid and/or have pernicious anemia, you’ll need injections. I inject in the big thigh muscle where there’s nothing too critical near the surface to accidentally hit. Subcutaneous works just fine as B12 is water soluble. All you to do is get it below the skin and the circulation system will take care of the rest.

The great bball player Bill Walton went vegan about when he became a pro. His pro career was a never-ending series of injuries and broken bones. He eventually had such severe back pain that he considered suicide. Sure, that vegan diet really is the solution to good health. /s.

I remember twenty years ago (at a Thanksgiving dinner no less) to a young man who had been taught somewhere that mankind didn’t start eating meat until eleven thousand years ago due to a famine. I told him as far as I knew, mankind had been eating omnivorous diets for hundreds of thousands of years or more. He had been “fed” a lot of propaganda.

What a croc of crap. This “study”, like most “studies” is complete garbage. I doubt there even was a study.

“My husband went vegan for many years. He stopped after he got cancer.”

what more proof do you need.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe just the slightest shred of evidence??

Fermented foods and algae contain B-12. Your liver can store B-12 for years and recycle it.

Hmmm...Bill Clinton is a vegan, isn’t he? Maybe he can talk Obama into becoming one as well.

B-12 fron algae is not bioavailable:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2000824

And if the body recycled B-12 with 100% efficiency, people wouldn’t die from pernicious anemia, but it doesn’t and they do die. I almost did.

‘If a vegan mother wants to raise her baby as a vegan, does that mean she doesn’t nurse? After all, milk isn’t vegan?’

A valid question. Of course when trying to talk to a vegan left winger. They never accept reality. Being a vegan is part of their core and inner religion.

First off, I don't get why you see any of this as political. Secondly, of course vegans nurse. Human breast milk is naturally intended for human babies. It is not an animal product. Cow's milk is intended for calves. Feeding cow's milk to human babies is inter-species nursing which is pretty creepy.

Thank you for answering the nursing question, I’d been wondering.
