All those klansmen in the picture are democrats... and NO they did NOT become Republicans when the sixties came ... they stayed democrats ( well, except for Lester Maddox... he really did switch)
And unlike Bobby Byrd Lester knew that the KKK was wrong in their beliefs
Yep, the KKK was well known as the militant arm of the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party only started playing that down when blacks started voting in meaningful numbers.
Yup, those Klansmen and Klanswomen were/are Dems. Puzzles the Hell out of me why blacks go for the Democrat party as they do.
