Dr. Wolfe is a cousin and can get a Certificate of Live Birth but Virginia S’s brother has been denied her BC and the courts have upheld that decision.
Duncan Sunahara received a copy of the short form Certificate of Live Birth abstract, which is the official birth certificate of the state of Hawaii since 2001.
In my opinion Duncan Sunahara went about his request in the wrong manner. He was rather accusatory from the inception. He demanded, to be present at the photocopying of Virginia’s birth certificate and was he generally distrustful of the Hawaii Department of Health. They opposed him and they won in their own state courts.
I suggest a different approach by Dr. Wolf, a polite request based on the written requests that the two Republican Secretaries of State in Arizona and Kansas used to get Certified Letters of Verification in Lieu of Certified Copy from the Hawaii registrar.
