Quenelle de Boris Diaw ! #Dieudonné #Anelka
In case you're wondering, there are nine more French players currently in the NBA other than Parker and Diaw.
Labels: Dieudonne, French anti-Semitism, Nazis
My French is beyond minimal, so I’m probably mistranslating something here. But I thought “quenelle” was a type of forcemeat/dumpling? Does it have another meaning, or do I have a completely different word in mind?
They look so proud, behaving like despots’ mooks so The Man knows they’re sooo free and independent...
According to online translation sites, it means just that.
The “comedian” named the gesture himself, maybe after the dumpling.
Ok whats the deal..there doing somekind of low five nazi salute?
The player says “I don’t know, I’m innocent”; the performer/activist says “it’s an anti-establishment thing” but his night job is denying the Holocaust
It’s an underground Nazi salute, since the real one will get you in trouble. Since Nazi’s obviously didn’t like brown people either, for French Muslims it is basically an anti-Jew incitement. The comedian is well known as a Holocaust denier who jokes about killing Jews.
good to know the ROP and followers are showing their true colors
yup. In France (particularly the part dominated by ‘the North Africans’) this has become the standard sign of muslims and is a way of dissing Jews
BTW, Dieudonne (accent on final "e" omitted) translates as "G-d-given." I'm not familiar with him, but I'm guessing it's a boastful pseudonym he uses to let the public know what a bigwig he thinks he is.
In 1962, we were traveling through Sweden and at dinnertime. we were looking for a place to eat. We found a restaurant that had an English-language menu on the door. According to the menu, the day's special was "force meat." Before ordering it, we grilled the waiter to make sure that this wasn't a misspelling of "horse meat."

And while I’m at it...Go, Lakers!
Dieudonne named the gesture based on one of his stand-up comedy routines, where he said something to the effect of, “I’d like to shove a quenelle this far up a Jew’s backside.” (Pardon my language - his version was much more coarse.) The gesture suggests “how far” the outstretched arm should go.
Dieudonne started out as protesting racial discrimination in France, eventually wrapping in blame for anti-semitism into his race-card mix. He considered himself a friend and supporter of le Pen and Achmadinejad, is a Holocaust-denier, and is banned from public performance in France because of his hate-speech.
Folks who use the gesture claim it is merely anti-establishment... but in their minds, the “Zionist conspiracy” is a key part of the “establishment” that “keeps youths of color downtrodden.”
He’s a muslim of course he thinks he is special

Dieudonné (full name is Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala) is a French comedian. He is half white, born to a Cameroon father and French mother. He is active on the French far right.
His anti white, anti-Semitic, and anti-American “jokes” and nazi salute-like gesture are part of his act. Many in France are trying to ban him, censure him, criminalize his speech, and jail him for “racial hatred” and “hate crimes”. The French have no First Amendment.
DD reflects a repugnant thread running throughout French history and culture, that of anti-semitism and racism. He is not alone; he is just a symptom of a societal sickness with deep roots in history.
Many on the far left as well as the far right are using this opportunity to compare the Tea Party, and the right side of the political spectrum in the US with this hatred of Jews, the Jewish religion, and the Jewish state of Israel. The Tea Party has nothing to do with the extreme far right, the neo-nazi right of related groups like the neo-nazi group, Storm Front, in the US, the National Front in France, and other neo-Nazi extremist groups throughout Europe and the former Soviet Union.
We condemn racial and ethnic hatred and speech, like that coming from Dieudonné and his allies and supporters on the French neo-nazi right. Among his top supporters is Jany Le Pen, wife of Jean-Marie Le Pen, Jean-Marie Le Pen himself, and his daughter, a chip off the old block, a wolf in sheep’ s clothing, running for President, Marine le Pen.
FOR ALL THOSE PRETENDING “LA QUENELLE” IS NOT AN ANTI-SEMITIC GESTURE, LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS: Note: 7th image from top: Jean-Marie Le Pen doing la quenelle in tribute to Dieudonné
