Psalm 25:1-3
To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.
Conservative pundits are fond of saying, “What would Reagan do?” We are well past the point of “What would Reagan do?” We have reached the point of “What would Samuel Adams do?” George Washington may be the Father of Our Country, but Sam Adams was the Father of the Revolution. He was the Saul Alinsky of his day. He agitated and organized day and night. Fearlessly. Passive resistance? Hardly. It was active and in-your-face. Tarring and feathering British sympathizers or ransacking their homes was just another day at the office. He was brilliant—always one step ahead of the law and always outwitting and outmaneuvering his adversaries. And he did it with aplomb.
Sam Adams would consider today’s Tea Party a bunch of toothless pu**ies. The same for the Pajama Media and conservative bloggers. Is blogging in your gameroom really comparable to pledging “our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor?” The answer is painfully obvious. Conservatives and libertarians and Tea Partiers all want change on the cheap. They want to change the system without leaving the comfort of their homes. Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots.” If Tea Partiers think they’re going to take back their country from their man-caves, they’re smoking pixie dust.
