Spiritual Battle in our Fallen World

Do you believe in God? Do you believe - as the bible says - that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of all who believe in him? If you do, then, terrific! You are on the path of life, the path of eternal life.

The bible tells us that those who rest their faith in Jesus Christ will live eternally in heaven. Though life here on earth is only temporary and often times painful , the life in the kingdom of God that is to come - although it is often difficult for us to imagine from where we are - is, as the bible explains, something that we cannot even begin to imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9).

In spite of our human limitations, we are told through scripture, that we must rest our hope and faith in the kingdom that is to come.

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." - 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

....

However, in spite of these wonderful words of encouragement, the bible also reminds, warns us - quite clearly - that while we remain here on earth, we will be engaged in continual spiritual battle. God's kingdom is NOT of this world. We are living in a fallen, sinful world; a world where our sinful desires weaken us, and where Satan and his army of demons are working tirelessly to corrupt and destroy everything and everyone God loves.

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." - 1 Peter 5:8

This is what secular humanists deny. They believe that man does not have a sinful nature and is perfectible. Since man is perfectible, he can create a perfect utopia on earth that is run by a government that takes the place of God.

The sermon at Mass this morning was something like this article. Sounded familiar.
