WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
RETRACT the executive order against the re-importation of U.S. military firearms
This petition is for the retraction of the Executive Action, announced 08/29/2013, which would prohibit the re-importation of former U.S. military firearms for sale to U.S. citizens. The primary firearms that this would impact are the U.S. M1 Garand and Carbine rifles, prized by collectors, competitive sports shooters, and "plinkers" who are interested in U.S. military history. These are NOT the type of firearms that have been associated with crimes. This Executive Action will solve no firearms-related problems, is political grandstanding at its worst, and only serves to discriminate against legitimate firearms collectors. Yup. This was simply a mean-spirited, vindictive order by a petty little excuse for a man/wannabe dictator.
How about a petition to retract the elections of 2008 & 2012 ?
The petition to Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President, and their families, and establish Gun Free Zones around them got enough signatures, but there was never a satisfactory response.
What part of “... shall not be infringed.” do they not understand?
Its too bad that Congress is wrongly protecting Obama on so many issues, as evidenced by this thread, by not impeaching him.
Not that I disagree with the sentiment expressed here in any way, but is there really any point ‘petitioning’ this WH? A petition, surely, suggests ‘begging someone to reconsider’. Asking someone who maybe hasn’t thought through the ramifications of a decision, or has made an ill-considered but fundamentally honest mistake, to look at it again and think about whether, maybe, they might just have been wrong. It doesn’t presume intelligence, or morals, or right, or logic in the mind of the person you’re asking to reconsider; but it does presume they’re not actually warped, evil and actively trying to screw you over.
Which brings me back to the ‘is there any point?’ question. I’m not sure I can bring myself to act as a ‘petitioner’ and beg this current administration to please, listen to me. I already know that they have absolutely no interest in me or my opinion.
That’s not defeatism, or suggesting all is lost. It’s just saying that signing WH petitions isn’t really going to get us anywhere at this point: other means are needed. If anyone can convince me otherwise (I’m always open to the possibility I might be wrong or have missed something!) - then fire away. I’ll happily sign if you can persuade me there’s any point.
Which brings me back to the is there any point? question.
Have to take things step-by-step.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
I would sign this if I didn’t have to create a government email account.
This will have every bit as much influence and impact as the petition to build the Death Star.
I'll put my money where my mouth is and send money to the GOA or SAF or even the NRA if they'll file suit against it.
