A military strike without preparing an international coalition would be ineffective and would turn the world against the United States, Ret. U.S.S. Cole Cmdr. Kirk Lippold said Tuesday.
"Right now we are not ready. And just launching Tomahawks is going to be ineffective, and do nothing but turn the world against us," Lippold said on "Fox & Friends."
"We need that broader consensus throughout the world to take unilateral military action against them," Lippold said. "I am for action. But appropriate action at the appropriate time."
President Barack Obama is contemplating a missile strike of limited scope and duration in response to reports last week of the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons against innocent civilians, including children.
Lippold indicated the credibility of the U.S. is on the line, and said the administration needs to "make sure the U.N. has the time they need to confirm it (the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government) with us, so we don't end up looking like it's once again a situation that we had in Iraq, right or wrong."
Lippold was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Cole when it was attacked in 2000 by a suicide bomber while harbored in Yemen. Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for the attack by boat that blew a hole in the side of destroyer and killed 17 American sailors.
Lippold also raised the possibility that the U.S. could broaden a limited strike into a broader military effort aimed at overthrowing the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

I watched a documentary called, "The Children of Gaza" (good luck finding it). The lady went in with heartfelt concern for the children and left disgusted because of all the interviews of men, women, and especially children who were educated against ANYTHING Israel and blatantly indoctrinated to kill at early age. This was at the time that the so-called Palistians were doing their suicide bombings at Israeli weddings, parties, cafes, buses, et al.
I remember it like yesterday about how the Palis would just kill any Jew and themselves until Israel built the wall. Then the Palis complained about not having their jobs anymore. Then Israel unilaterally gave them the Gaza Strip (stupid) and the Palis immediately destroyed any Israeli infra-structure. The dumbshits actually destroyed hot-houses that supplied food. They've been complaining since.
Point being is that ALL Islamists do nothing but complain while building little for themselves. They blame all their problems on Israel and western civilization, while they push their ass up in the air 5 times a day to mo. They are all a gutter people, whether Shiite, Sunni, Wahhabiasts, or any faction therein. The only thing they have in common is hate. If they can't kill infidels, they kill each other.
Bottom line: Let Syria kill themselves. Let's not get involved. At least it will keep them busy from killing us. Believe me, after watching, "The Children of Gaza", there are NO innocents, unless you think our children should die before theirs. Think Beslan.

Let’s stay out of this fight or it might result in Putin getting the title to The U.S. or expending too many of our assets when we ‘re already literally bankrupt (though it will never be declared so). You have to wonder where those chemical weapons that the Syrians were using came from? Surely it had nothing at all to do with Chris Stevens arming the rebels in Benghazi did it?...if so, 0dumbo may have armed them and now is going to fire on them for using it. Nothing surprising for a president that would betray his own people though...
The Syrian conflict is simply one group of terrorists fighting against another group of terrorists. Not one drop of American blood nor one shard of our ammunition should be shed in this gang war. We should STHO.

Just like “cocaine is a hellof a drug”.....the Sunburn anti ship missile is one hellof a platform to intimidate people on a boat. Iran has many of these weapons.....I wonder is Syria has them in their arsenal as well?
Imagine an old rusty freighter that has had some modifications to allow it to launch a Sunburn.
