Preppers’ PING!!
26. Beer
27. Beer
28. Beer
Bourbon. Don’t forget bourbon.
Seriously though, I’d recommend evaporated milk be added to this list.
Mustard was originally used to cover the taste of spoiled food and was considered a peasants condiment. It could very well go back into this service under emergency conditions.
What no beer.....
Canned good shelf life is less than 3 years so they have to be used and restocked. Rice lasts forever, better than dried pasta. I would add hershey bars or if you have the cash, go for the 65% cocoa dark chocolate bars from Lindt or Green and Black. You’re right about spices and I’d add worcestershire, it lasts a while and adds a good flavor.
Always wondered why sardines were packed in mustard....yuk, yuk,...
Add Sriracha sauce.
Powdered milk in the 1 quart packets ... just add water.
and while we’re at it....if we’re gonna eat good..>>TOILET PAPER!
That’s a good list, but what do we keep the boxed stuff in to avoid bugs and moisture? I’ve noticed lately that large plastic tubs develop a nasty odor so not sure they are good for the food.
Evaporated milk doesn’t require water, which may be in short supply. Hence my adding it.
You are wrong about can good:
The steamboat Bertrand was heavily laden with provisions when it set out on
the Missouri River in 1865, destined for the gold mining camps in Fort
Benton, Mont. The boat snagged and swamped under the weight, sinking to the
bottom of the river. It was found a century later, under 30 feet of silt a
little north of Omaha, Neb.
Among the canned food items retrieved from the Bertrand in 1968 were brandied
peaches, oysters, plum tomatoes, honey, and mixed vegetables. In 1974,
chemists at the National Food Processors Association (NFPA) analyzed the
products for bacterial contamination and nutrient value. Although the food
had lost its fresh smell and appearance, the NFPA chemists detected no
microbial growth and determined that the foods were as safe to eat as they
had been when canned more than 100 years earlier.

Ammo boxes, until ammo is available again.
Brand name for the instant potato flakes? Used to be able to get the large dried potato soup containers which could make something like four+ gallons, but SAM’s quit carrying them. I would add granola bars to the list. One can survive well on peanut butter, granola bars, canned meats, and ... wait for it ... good potato vodka.
Yum....
Five Gallon buckets line them with mylar bags and add oxygen absorbers. Method is in my preparedness manual.
