Hey Jeff Winston, ff Obama is a true Constitutional Article 2 Section 1 natural born Citizen, why did Obama feel compelled to state that his birth status was governed by the British Nationality Act of 1948 rather than the 14th Amendment?

From Fight The Smears, his 2008 campaign website. Read the last sentence:

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.

If his campaign people had had the slightest doubt he legally qualified, do you think they would have ever posted such a statement on the site?

There is no provision in the Constitution that disqualifies a person from being President simply because some other country might say they are a citizen as well.

In fact, 3 of our first 4 Presidents were dual citizens with France, WHILE SERVING AS PRESIDENT.

Multiple court decisions have also stated clearly that persons born in the United States are natural born citizens regardless of any citizenship status of their parents.
