"Scary" to who, Mike? To billionaires who can live anywhere or to the average citizen stuck in that hell-hole?

They weren’t necessary before and they aren’t necessary now. We have plenty of boots & LE on the ground.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg considers the domestic use of military-style drones "scary" but says that there is no way to stop it.

If we lived in a Constitutional Republic with a representative form of government, then sure we could stop it, but since we don't...

Thank you for admitting what many Americans already know.

He needs to give the constitution a little scrutiny.

I'm not afraid of police helicopters. Albeit a bit noisy they currently do a lot more good than harm.

A “reasonably” equipped drone could also do a lot of good in foiling bad guys.

However, the current administration turns everything on its head. I'd never thought of myself in revolutionary terms before.

put 10 or 20 drones hovering around Bloomberg’s home then you’ll see a different story

With all those tall rooftops, I would guess that those drones would be ‘vulnerable’.

[except for the fact only a few have acquired target eliminators]

Can these drones see the difference between 16 & 18 ounce sodas?

Bloomberg is a Republican, right?

If you were just awakening to politics and wanted to know what party that crazy ba$tard who's trying to run your life and spy on you belonged to, what would you learn?

That control freak represents the Republican party.

He must be the real deal for them, since he's the guy running NYC, just like Rudy Giuliani, so what he's doing obviously is what the Republican party must believe in, too. Right?

Yet another good reason to not be a Republican.

Can't you people see what's been done to you? This isn't your father's Republican party.

Whether from dirt or deals, the old crew just isn't on your team any more.

Time to either cure the party of the virus or burn it to the ground and phoenix up from the ashes.

What's the point of playing this game any more?

I notice he doesn’t mention whose drones they are. Are they in his jurisdiction? Are some of them maybe his? Are they keep an eye out for oversized sodas or illicit cigarettes?

He really doesn’t say. But he’s in a position to know, and probably even to block them—if he wanted to. Which he obviously doesn’t.

Mayor Bloomberg doesn’t fear government tyranny, because he is government tyranny.

With federal drones looking for public corruption in local governments—where the money is. See the tip for all of us common citizens from a man in the CIA (the actual quote from Ira Hunt—not the screeching hysteria in the paraphrasing of the posted piece). It’s the state and local governments doing most of the cellphone snooping—not the feds.

With the remainder of the default process ahead, I reckon the Public Integrity Section will be a bigger deal in the future. The real zombies will be regulating bureaucrats and other pretenders receiving government incomes. They’ll be all over each other for dwindling revenues/debt (no juicy targets elsewhere).

“Everybody wants their privacy, but I don’t know how you’re going to maintain it,” Bloomberg said on his weekly radio show. “It’s just we’re going into a different world, uncharted, and, like it or not, what people can do, what governments can do, is different ... you can’t keep the tides from coming in.”

What garbage.

The means to invade a person's privacy isn't the same as the right to invade a person's privacy.

Telephone's been around for decades - our leaders in the past got a judge to sign off on a wire tap. They didn't think it was their right to snoop on the private lives of citizens. Then again, our leaders weren't assh*les like Bloomberg - they NEVER used the excuse that since telephones made it 'easy' to listen in on private conversations that they could throw privacy out the window. We had better people running for office back then.

Bloombrerg's a jerk. A total complete jerk.
