Brings to mind an old joke supposedly coined during pre WW2 war games in which some troops were said to carry broom sticks while others might have cardboard cutouts of equipment.
The punch line was "Bang, bang! You're dead'...followed by "Rumble, rumble! I'm a tank".
To be even minimally successful, any insurrection would have to originate within the military/paramilitary.
(Which might explain why Obama considers returning GIs to be possible terrorists.)

Petraeus, the Admirals and Generals removed, then no bolts in the Marine’s rifles at the inaugeration, brings up numerous questions that makes you wonder if there is not something patriotic slowly working in the background.
