Reports of Sarah Palins demise are almost certainly premature.
Oh, sure: Mrs. Palin and Fox News announced an end to their increasingly strained relationship last week, and yes, some observers have been quick to write her political and pop culture obituary, with one writer comparing her to a playground great who never made it to the NBA.
Still, those who know Mrs. Palin best caution against writing her off.
I think people underestimate her all the time, filmmaker Steve Bannon, who made the 2011 pro-Palin film The Undefeated, told ABC News. She has two things the factotums in the Republican Party cant replicate. (A): charisma and (B): the ability to connect to working men and women in this country.
With that in mind, whats next for Mrs. Palin? The Washington Times considers the possibilities:
Daytime television talk host
Pros: Okay, pop quiz. Which of the following people has not hosted a daytime gabfest?
A) Tyra Banks
B) Sharon Osbourne
C) Tempestt Bledsoe
D) Tony Danza
Surprise! The correct answer is none of the above. Which means the competition isnt exactly the 1985 Chicago Bears. Mrs. Palin has the name and fame to help fill an ongoing post-Oprah void. Does she have the game? Her much-anticipated, much-dissected guest host appearance on NBCs Today show last spring went off without a major hitch, with Mrs. Palin appearing comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera.
Cons: Daytime talk is decidedly apolitical. Would Palin supporters accustomed to her endorsements of liberty and denunciations of the Obama administration be content with harmless chit-chat about a minor celebritys new perfume line?
Odds: 8-1. A show would allow Mrs. Palin to go head-to-head with 2008 nemesis Katie Couric, which might be a draw...

Interesting article.
If she’s intends to run for national office, the daytime talk show gig is the probably the best one.
It would help her connect with an audience she will need for political success.
Palin’s calling is politics, it seems to me. Daytime blab on generic subjects, Oprah like, strikes me as a snoozer for her hard politics base type, if that’s what the writer was trying to indicate.
Sarah works for a movement, maybe even a third party. She wouldn’t even have to run it to still retail it.
The constant put down of her has its limits. It’s called over kill and eventually loses its effect, rather making her appear more a threat to them than the fool they try to make her out to be.
Palin vs Clinton 2016
I think Sarah Palin would be a good and successful talk show host. She probably wont get on in NYC or DC....but she would be ratings gold in the South and West.
She has a folksy charm that would be great w guests. And, her outdoors segments would be real authentic
I think you’re forgetting how much of Obama’s success goes back to all the support he got from Oprah.
Well, you certainly have a point there. But, I just don’t see it, myself. Do you, really? I wish she could make a senator. We need the senate help and she needs to be in DC, best I can tell. But so does Mark Levin. I dunno.
I’d love to see her go after John McCain’s seat. I think he’d have to endorse her.
I would think that she would run for Senate. Either in Alaska or in Arizona. Word is she has homes in both places. Being 1 of only 100 votes would really p-off the Democrats and news media.
She should forget about politics and have a radio show that says the shocking truth about what is going on in this country, with plenty of evidence and credible witnesses. Politics calls for schmoozing and niceness, along with too much political correctness. It is time for unvarnished, naked truth to hit the airwaves. Only truth can set us free, and we are in desperate need of it. She and her family had better be plied with prayers and have armed protection if she starts speaking truth, because truth has plenty of powerful enemies.
Sarah isn’t done yet. She has some power.
Not that she’s left Fox, she’s free to go Birther. Go, Sarah!
What a dumb article. People inside-the-beltway don’t “get” Sarah Palin at all. She is not going to host a tv talk show because she doesn’t need a career. She already has a life.
Nor will she run for a senate seat. Great things DO NOT originate from that place. The only political office she will ever seek would be president.
I’d look for the Palins to be active in the coming 2014 elections, working to get like minded people elected to office. A big win would bode well for a presidential run, if she wants it.
I believe the Palins would be quite content to live a quiet life in Alaska if it weren’t for a sense of a call to duty to serve their country.
That’s what I wish. Though McCain has that grip of cold, dead fingers on his senate seat.
Good post.
