Here rabies is a concern every time.
They had a child and mother get attacked by a rabid raccoon.
And we’ve had instances of rabid deer.

How in the world?

A rabid deer? That is bizarre. We have mule deer and elk. Antlers and hooves are their most threatening feature. A serious one too should they decide to apply them. That’s pretty rare. Amazing that it is considering how dumb some of the tourists are. I have seen grandparents pushing their grandchildren over to the nice bull elk to get a pic or video of them together.
