Given our Navy's degraded ASW capabilities, I am surprised we detected this boat. Again, the Russians could have called the Pentagon and said, “Hey, we've got one of our fast attack nuke subs 200 miles off the East Coast. Find us if you can.”

Agreed but with this type of threat to AMerica we have the threat of sequestration out there that will completely devestate our fleet. Too bad Romney didn’t slam Obama’s bayonets comment with what are you going to do wait until the enemy subs are on our doorsteps before you decide to enhance our navy..... a comment like that would have been prescient.
