What Mitt Romney can learn from Richard Nixon
Chuck Morse Speaks ^ | September 21, 2012 | Chuck Morse

In 1969, at the height of the student protests against the Vietnam war, President Nixon held a private conversation with the wife of an American serviceman while he was visiting the Pentagon. The discourse was overheard by a reporter and was recounted in Before the Fall: an Insiders View of the Pre-Watergate White House by William Safire. Nixon expressed how much he admired men like the women's husband:

I have seen them. They are the greatest. You see these bums, you know, blowing up the campuses. Listen. The boys that are on the College campuses today are the luckiest people in the world, going to the greatest universities, and here they are burning up the books...Then out there (in Vietnam) we have kids who are just doing their duty. And I have seen them. They stand tall and they are proud.

The liberal media, which hated Nixon going back to the late 1940's when he played a key role in exposing one of their own, FDR's former under Secretary of State Alger Hiss, as an agent of Stalin, responded with the same ferocity and distortion that Mitt Romney is experiencing today. The media reported that Nixon had called all American college students bums.

It should be noted that tape of Romney speaking at a house party fundraiser, the one that the media is frantically claiming to be a "smoking gun" to use a Watergate metaphor, was altered as one or two minutes of the video of Romney were either deleted or are just missing. And while we're on the Nixon metaphors, this reminds me of the missing minutes in the Watergate tapes that contributed to Nixon's resignation.

The central message here is that Nixon contrasted the average working American, what he called the "silent majority," hard working good patriotic people, with the left-wing elitist spoiled campus liberal protesters burning their comfortable Colleges while getting all warm and fuzzy over Ho Ho Ho chi Minh. These same types today, Obama's core supporters, are not affected by the most rampant unemployment since World War II. They don't care about the increase in poverty because many of them, revieving public benefits, want the gravy train to keep rolling along.

Safire writes that shortly after the media flap over Nixon's comments, May 7, 1969, construction workers stormed New York City Hall and beat up college student protesters occupying the building. Thus the "Hard Hats" working people, the "silent majority" began to react to the elitist and out of touch college students. This reaction, and the rejection of the demented utopian ideals of the parlor pink silver spoon students continued to grow until the 1972 election. Nixon won the biggest landslide in history against his anti-war opponent George McGovern who carried only one state, Massachusetts.

Romney needs to stay real and to continue to point out the hypocrates who could care less about the plight of working people, about the silent majority. The more vicious the left-wing media became, the more that majority grew.

Mad as hell, ain't going to take it anymore, we're still here.

Parents today should, yank their kids in front of the TV whenever the OWs or other insane radicals are protesting, and SAY TO THEM:

IF YOU EVER PARTICIPATE IN ANY SUCH ANTI-AMERICAN ACTIVITY, YOU WILL NEVER ENTER MY HOUSE AGAIN, YOU WILL BE DISOWNED.

You will not receive any type of financial support from us, you will hand over your IPOD/IPAD, laptops, etc., and remove the NIKE's at the door.

This needs to start now, the younger the better. Tough love is REAL LOVE, and it works. I know.

Stop NOW, purchasing your little precious everything they WANT. What have they done to earn anything, except WHINE. Stop giving them "salaries" each week, in which they can purchase Anti American values CD's and movies.

The left is trying to skewer Romney just as they did President Nixon. They are searching for anything and everything they can to corner Mitt, and whatever they find will be played over and over in the MSM.

This latest tape on Romney is meant to paint him as arrogant and selfish. It has also been the left’s diversion for all that is going on in the world....the Middle East exploding, the murder of Americans, Fast and Furious, the terrible economy, and the list goes on. What Mitt said in passing on a singular occasion is SO MUCH more important than whatever else is going on in the world!
