Say Hello To "Four More Years" (Mittens-Ryan)
Market-ticker ^ | Aug. 11, 2012 | Karl Deninger

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:40:16 PM PDT by SatinDoll

There are a few hard, fast rules in politics when you're playing on the top of the ticket.

The first is that picking someone that's dumber than a box-o-rocks may cost you the election, as the electorate may think about your untimely demise and whether they can live with the other party in the left seat.

The second is that picking someone who's smarter than you are isn't that good of an idea either, because then the electorate may wonder if they made the wrong choice for the top of the ticket.

And the third is that picking someone who's hated more than you are sometimes works politically, especially if you've got a bunch of rabid people who hate you (and who doesn't at this level of political activity?); their fire may be drawn to the VP pick.

Of course that can backfire and cause your opponent to concentrate his fire on you both.

That appears to be headed Mittens way with Paul Ryan as his running mate.

The Republican presidential candidate called his new running mate a man of "steadiness" and "integrity." Speaking Saturday morning, Romney praised Ryan as an "intellectual leader" of the party, one who understands the toll the debt is taking on the country but is optimistic about the future.

Uh huh. That would be nice if it was true.

Unfortunately it's a lie.

And Ryan is one of the liars-in-chief in the House. If you need your memory refreshed may I recommend you read the following links:

here (discretionary budget, welfare reform, retirement security and more) here (voted for and supported TARP) here (Medicare, cost-shifting at gunpoint and more) here (more Medicare lies) here (Ryan's fraudulent -- for the second time -- budget proposal) and of course here (Ryan's lies about the sequester ex-post-facto creating exemptions to it)

and that's just the last year or so of my coverage of this venomous, traitorous snake.

The problem with Ryan is that he's not a "conservative" at all. Beyond the fiscal mess documented up above -- a mess he not only helped create but is promulgating and continuing, along with the explicit and implicit support of frauds up and down the line in our financial system via TARP and other schemes he also supports blatantly unconstitutional laws on top of it, including The Patriot Act, warrantless wiretaps, retroactive immunity for telecommunications firms that broke the law on warrant requirements and more.

This is a man who literally wakes up and looks for a tiny as-yet-unused corner of the Constitution with which to wipe his ass after the obligatory morning stop on the commode. Paired with Romney, who supported and signed a ban on guns that looked scary while governor of Massachusetts, to give Ryan the tie-breaking vote in the Senate is unthinkable.

This nation and her people need both a stick for our teeth and a good belt of whiskey, for indeed, given this "choice", here it comes.

Deninger is full of shit. He voted for Obama for cripes sake. Why don’t you post his garbage at HuffPost where it belongs.

I like Karl most of the time, but his judgment of Ryan is far too harsh. Ryan is inside the system - as an insider, he is as good as we are likely to get. The outsiders Karl prefers are never going to get within a thousand miles of the Presidency.

The situation is unfixable - the Great Collapse is inevitable. At least Ryan is a guy who thinks right. Maybe he can help a lot of Americans get through the tribulations ahead better than they otherwise would have.

I just love hearing from snots like you.

Go back and read my comments. I post research about candidates. You don’t like the message, fine.

As for me, I’ve already said I will be voting for R&R.

You can hold obama in check for 4 more years?
We need to elect you the president!
Obozo is completely lawless, protected and uncontrollable! He lies, hides his docs and records, gets away with murders. No one with the power to oppose/expose him dares to lift a finger. He weakens our defense, promotes unrest, pro-terrorists......he is the greatest domestic enemy in history. You can just imagine what he will be like given 4 more years !!!!!! He will absolutely act like he is the all-mighty who can do anything he pleases!

We barely survive the last 4 years - thanks in part to those who sat home or voted third party.

Do that again and there will be no more USA for you to revive your conservatism.

Shouldn’t we keep the country alive so we can revive conservatism?

4 more years of obozo and conservatism will be history forever!

It is inconceivable that Romney and Ryan won’t install policies to improve employment, economy and budget!

With improved employment, economy and budget we have a fighting chance.

With obozo hell-bent on killing jobs, healthcare and everything else, any rational person will know that there is no way we can keep obozo in check for 4 more years!

I post research on candidates, and you do not have to read it. Understand? Trashing the messenger, in this case Deninger, because you take issue with the veracity of the message is a classic.

Karl Deninger has a viewpoint you obviously do not like. Because he was suckered by BHO2, I suspect he is being diligent about presenting information about the candidates this time around.

There are a lot of people who did not research Obama’s background and who voted for him in 2008. I know of quite a few conservatives who were sucked in by the post-racial, hope and change mantra.

As for myself, I started reseaching BHO2 in March of 2008, reported on FR what I was finding - namely that he wasn’t born here in the U.S.A. - and experienced my computer being hacked three times prior to the election. It was hacked a fourth time near the inauguration.

I began to answer my front door with a shotgun, either in hand or nearby. That should tell you right there I’m not 12 years old.

Just like you are doing right now there were myriad individuals who mocked my information on BHO2. Too bad more didn’t look into the information in greater detail.

A voter cannot know too much about a candidate before casting a ballot. At least one is less likely to be blindsided by revelations.

I will be voting for the Republican candidates for Prez and VP. The alternative is a communist.

I will never, ever vote Obama, but not a thing Romney can do to get my vote.

Not to worry my Dear FRiends, I have spent the last 3 months trying to convince my neighbors, two teachers, who have been disenchanted with the unsustainable debt and Gaystopo marriage nonsense, of the Oblamo admin, they have had enough.. After today's announcement, and the selection of Ryan, they have decided that they will finally support the Republican ticket..

These two, and others I have been talking to, can offset at least 2 of these folks that are determined to sink the American Ship, with their "unmitigated stubbornness" (that is as charitable as I can get)..

If you, RIghtwardHo, have a plan that can convince me that your plan will work with Obama, who is shown to by-pass the Congress, at will, will not finish us off within the next 4 years, I am ready and willing to listen.. Carlo

“How many winning presidential elections has Karl Deninger masterminded? How many successful runs for county dog catcher or city council, for that matter?”

Exactly. On bulletin boards it’s fine if you want to use pet names like “Oblunder” or “Mittens” but for me to take any commentary writer seriously they have to stick with the proper names.

During the primaries I sometimes called him “Milt” or other less gracious names. Now that he’s the only thing that stands between us and the utter destruction that a second term for Mr. Obama would mean, I won’t be using those names any time soon. I look on him as a pest control agent that we will hire to rid the Republic of a terrible infestation of toxic, dangerous vermin. After he’s done that, we will look at extending his contract and keep his feet to the fire.

Sorry to disagree, but we cannot hold Obama in check. He and his minions, including Reid and Pelosi, have set up a situation in which he’ll be able to govern by Executive orders and regulations. He is a tyrant-wannabee, and all he needs is a Reichstag Fire to become an actual tyrant. I have never felt this way before, but other nations have followed this path many times in history.

We rarely have a clear choice between Good and Evil, or even good and bad. Usually it is murkier, like this time. This is one of those times when we have a choice between 2 admittedly bad, but nonetheless very distinct, alternatives. I will vote for the very imperfect Romney, not because I think him the besy person for the job, but because he isn’t The Destroyer.

Dear SatinDoll,

“It was legal to intercept the radio communications of foreigners, but not U.S. citizens.”

Except we listened to and recorded all civil comms during the riots in the 60s. Especially taxi traffic in DC.

It was legal under the then existing National Security Act. It seems likely to me that the Church Committee in ‘75 changed the wording to make it illegal. I suspect NSA still recorded the traffic, but did not look at it, and is likely still in some warehouse somewhere.

FYI: NSA has been recording ALL traffic in and out of the US since the late 50s, as well as worldwide.

The difference between then and now with finding a specific reference in a particular conversation amid a plethora of traffic is: Then it was pretty much random luck, while today computers can search quickly for keywords - cf “the Molniya Problem”.

Since the traffic is recorded on wide-band, when the computers do searches, they search all the freqs for keywords - hence to make US civil searches outbounds makes little sense. Which is likely one reason why it is now legal ... again.

Worked with some of your fellows at Sinope, Turkey - nice guys, remember them fondly for the good times, still in contact with some of them.

Most prized unrecorded intercept was WBZ in Boston, USA ... :)

I do agree we are on the cusp or entering into a period of tyranny. More so when Obizmal wins his second term - and then his third and forth in his headlong crusade to destroy this country - unless he is stopped this fall.

“I wonder if Wisconsin is a state where Ryan can run for VP and Congress in the same year and day.”

It is.

The only thing is, truly, there will not be a 2016 if Obama is re-elected. We cannot hold Him in check; we haven’t held him in check these last four years! When communists are elected, they don’t leave.

God save America.

So right.

The free world is teetering right now. Ryan was a poor pick. He does not inspire anyone.

But, we must elect them and try to hold THEM in check. We have a much better chance of doing that with those two, than we do with Obama. It is more important than ever to vote republican. I know so many of us said that we would never vote for this man; but we must. A vote for a third party or a write in vote, is a vote for Obama.

God save America. Only He can.
