A Vermonter would be most likely to maintain a steel, stoic gaze, perhaps only allowing a light smirk and even a cross between a chuckle and a cackle only after observing his finished handiwork.

Which reminds me of something from E.B. White:

To a New Englander, a Yankee is from Vermont
To a Vermonter, a Yankee is someone who has pie for breakfast
