Now that hemophiliacs and surgical patients are safe from HIV spread via medical products, what is needed to end AIDS beyond that those at risk stop sticking things in their bodies that (1) don’t belong in their bodies, and (2) are known to be dangerous and unhealthy? Cure will happen, eventually. Prevention is incredibly easy.
And the other thing, Sir Elton, is money given to HIV research is money no longer available for other disease research, like say, Child Muscular Dystrophy or heart disease.
But since HIV can possibly effect you personally, naturally its your priority. Because its not mine doesn't mean there's something wrong with me.
Besides, unlike these other diseases there is a very effective treatment for HIV & AIDs - abstinence from unsafe sexual practices.
According to John Stossel AIDS/HIV research funding gets 25 times more than Parkinson’s. Even though heart disease kills more people it still receives less funding than AIDS/HIV.
Yes, we could end AIDS in a heartbeat. But I don’t think that the diseased individuals would like finding themselves quarantined on island with “shoot to kill” orders for dealing with escape attempts, and their “intimate” associates being tested whether they like it or not...

I have a special enmity towards all homosexual advocacy groups since the eighties when they tried to blame Reagan for the AIDs epidemic. The epidemic was caused by careless and arrogant male homosexuals who thought the world should okay their reckless lifestyles and couldn’t bear to blame themselves. I wasn’t even a Republican in the eighties, but I (and everyone else who wasn’t a male homosexual) knew who was responsible for the epidemic. And it wasn’t Ronald Wilson Reagan.
AIDS gets 20 times the funding that any other research does and isn’t even in the top 10 killers in this country.It makes me furious that things like type 1 diabetes that is in the top 10 killers get very little funding and it primarily strikes children while we know that most HIV/AIDS is caused by behavior.
HIV is an infection of choice - keep it in your pants and don’t do drugs, you won’t get it. But then, unlimited access to any sort of sex and drugs is a sacred cow of the left.
