It was John Sununu (who also did a great job dogging Michael Dukakis the last time he was involved in a Presidential campaign) along with Warren Rudman who was responsible for introducing the world to David Souter. So yes, he is entertaining and a good hatchet man but he will spew poison into Romney’s ears if he gets an advisory position in the upcoming administration.

Sununu’s a heavyweight, like Dick Cheney.

Juan knows to avoid the latter but forgot about the former.

He got pureed bigtime last night.

That is a very good point. It could be said that a president needs both “those that sitteth at his right hand”, and “those that sitteth at his left hand”. Use the left hand guys as the pit bulls to go after his opponents, and the right hand guys to be the policy wonks; but when they speak in public they need to be all “sweetness and light”.

But don’t involve the pit bulls in policy, because their job is to attack enemies and break things, not achieve consensus and build things. And don’t let the S&L guys to go negative, because they have to “deal”, and need to stay above the fray.
