Now that the State Primaries are almost completed, it is important to ask if Moderate Mitt from Mass. has proven himself to be able to beat unqualified, incompetent, arrogant, Marxist Obama?
The RNC made the Primary Campaign rules, and so the RNC can change those same rules. No Federal Regulator will be involved, 'I guarantee it.'
IF Romney has only a slight chance to win in November, THEN it is incumbent upon the RNC to DUMP Romney and choose a stellar Dark Horse, such as Rep. Allen West from Florida.
Nominee Allen West would nullify Obama's race card, attack Obama"care" without the baggage that Romney brings with Romney"care," be an unquestioned Conservative, be cleaner than a hound's tooth, be smarter than all known economists, solidly receive the pro-Military vote, and be the automatic favorite son of the key State of Florida.
Romney would have to really struggle to beat Allen West for the Nominee position in an OPEN Convention in Tampa.
The State Primaries were a test run, and Romney showed us that he is a weak Candidate to beat Obama, the most flawed Democrat ever to run for re-election to the most powerful job in the World.
So, in the spirit of Jim Robinson's Truce, 'Mom, Fourth of July, and Apple Pie,' let us put forth our ideas to help Romney succeed in spite of himself!
Agreed, it is a daunting task for an etch-a-sketch, mealy-mouthed, Moderate to confront the REALITY of actually losing to Obama, but if Romney can't change between now and August then he doesn't deserve the RNC Nomination.
BTW, The GOP-Elite are part of the problem, NOT part of the solution.
"If it is going to be realized that in the last week of October that Romney will probably lose to Obama a week later by at least 5 %, will you not regret that you did not do your best to replace Romney at an OPEN Convention?"
Post your ideas for or against Romney becoming the Republican Nominee here. ( Jim's truce applies on this thread, IF your manners are spotless, IMHO, and of course, Jim's Opinion).
What say all of you?
The RNC is not going to “Dump Romney”, any more than they would have McCain.
Romney’s numbers are improving weekly, as well.
These strange fantasies are not helpful. In fact, they have the whiff of trolling.
Get over it. Romney is not going to be dumped.
Go on home now...
Is this satire... Or are you serious with this analysis?
You've got to be kidding me. West would have absolutely no chance whatsoever, for the nomination, much less for the election. Let's deal in reality.
This sh*t is just stupid, pointless and destructive. Put te crack pipe away. Romney is the last man standing. He will be the GOP nominee and he is therefore, our ONLY chance to defeat obama.
” - - - These strange fantasies are not helpful. In fact, they have the whiff of trolling.”
I’m not sure what “trolling” is, but it just gotta be a damn site better than watching Marxist Obama get re-elected in November.
Nominee Allen West would nullify Obama’s race card, attack Obama”care” without the baggage that Romney brings with Romney”care,” be an unquestioned Conservative, be cleaner than a hound’s tooth, be smarter than all known economists, solidly receive the pro-Military vote, and be the automatic favorite son of the key State of Florida.

Whats not to like ???
His friend Herman Cain would get behind him in a heaert beat...
Herman cain has never yet endorsed Willard...
Herman made himself clear last week when he said on Neal Bpprtz he was for “unity” of the Republican Party...
What Romney needs to do is to continue to run on a conservative platform and to pick a VP who will be satisfactory to social conservatives and not hurt the ticket politically in the swing states. Obama will do the rest.
sorry Neal

I will likely be voting for Goode.
#1: Vote Obama Out, Out, Out
#2: Vote conservative candidates into the US House and US Senate
#3: Then, if Romney tacks hard left, impeach him (he’s a white Republican; he can be impeached).
Romney is already doing what he needs to do. He has promised yet again to repeal Obamacare, and has promised again to stop any form of cap-and-trade which would be the ultimate take-over of the economy.
He’ll probably pick someone to be VP that will shake up the picture and steal the excitement from the Obamists. It may not be someone we like, though I hope it is. I would like it to be someone like Allen West but it will probably be someone like Colin Powell. Not my favorite since he endorsed Obama himself in the last election, but politically it could steal a lot of O’s thunder if a former supporter is running against him (and thereby endorsing Romney by his presence on the ticket).
We aren’t going to get a conservative this time out, but if R will at least do what he said he would do, we can continue the fight on those issues where he is weak or on the wrong side.
All he has to do to guarantee it is win about 38% of the remaining delegates. Considering most of the soft delegates are GOP-E and their souls belong to him already, he has probably already clinched.
” - - - He will be the GOP nominee and he is therefore, our ONLY chance to defeat obama.”
That reasoning didn’t work out so well for McCain vs Obama in 2008, so now that Obama is the incumbent, and Mittens de Jour is more Liberal than McCain, why should we expect 2012 be any different from 2008?
If Romney is probably going to lose to Obama, then NOW is the time to DUMP Romney and choose a WINNING Nominee. My suggestion was Rep. West, but there are many others.
The point of this thread is to test the assumption that Romney will beat Obama.
Right now the polls show that Romney has a 50-50 chance. Is that good enough, given the seriousness of this National Election? Or should we improve the odds with a better Nominee, GOP Elite be damned?!
Flame, shame or blame me, the question still remains: “Will Romney be a strong enough Republican Nominee to defeat Obama in November?”
Romney is the nominee. Get over it. He will easily have all the delegates he needs. It won’t even be close. Time to leave fantasyland and accept reality. Mitt probably has a 40% chance to defeat Hussein in November. Obama is still the favorite right now, but not by a lot.
No way Romney will pick Colin Powell. That would be very stupid, and I don't think Romney is stupid. Romney has to pick someone who will be satisfactory to the social conservatives. (Plus, Powell is too old now.)
The only way to stop Romney is to stop him from spending money. Money is what got him there and money will keep him there.
Since money is ‘free $peech’, you can kiss any future conservative nomination goodbye.
That said, it would be great to have a conservative, moral choice, but the time has passed. Unless changes His mind and starts rigging the elections process, Romney is the other choice.
I agree. This idiocy is what has turned this once stellar forum from serious, intelligent discussion to the unhinged ramblings of cranks and petulant children totally divorced from reality.
Because Romney will likely be a MUCH, much better candidate than McCain. McCain was a HORRIBLE candidate, politically. A DISASTER in his debates with Obama. Romney will be much better.
Furthermore, Obama basically ran against Bush, who was very unpopular. Bush ain't running this time. This time the bad economy will be on Obama. There is no magic, no pizzazz, this time for Obama. But there IS a HUGE case of "buyer's remorse" among a lot of those who voted for Obama last time.
Those are reasons why I think, realistically, Romney can beat Obama.
Mr. RomneyCARE is a presumptuous backstabbing liberal
who should be running in the DNC, were he honest.
Frankly, I’m bored with your posts.
Romney is the GOP nominee, -I’m not a fan of either him OR the GOP but I’m voting for him & pulling the lever without a whiff of regret other than the fact that trash like Hussein is in the oval office in the 1st place
“What will Romney have to do to keep from being DUMPED in Tampa?”
He needs a brain transplant from a smart person.
Jim's truce applies on this thread, IF your manners are spotless, IMHO, and of course, Jim's Opinion
They have decided that JR's truce was a surrender of FR to Mitt and anyone who disputes his ascent to the throne must be destroyed....but you probably know that. ;0)
Virgil Goode-2012!
"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"
"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"
"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"
"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"
"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"
No, but with 1076 delegates already, and no primary opposition remaining, he will easily have the number required. It isn't even going to be close. Romney is going to have so many more delegates than he needs that even the slimmest hopes of a contested convention (which weren't realistic anyway) are completely dashed.
Romney is going to be the Republican candidate. Deal with it. Political reality is what it is. Trying to pretend there is any chance of preventing Romney from being the nominee is just silly at this point.
GW-We have to be practical.Romney has the $$$ and the momentum.Col West is a good man but he doesn’t have a snowballs chance in h@ll of winning the election.Romney will be the nominee whether you or i like it or not.I was very impressed with Herman Cain. What about West as VP?How bout Cain or Palin as VP?
The more conservetive Tea Party branch is continuing to grow within the party. It's going to take some time to get there. Some believe this can and will happen over night....no way. Look how long it took the left wing kooks to invade the democrat party. We are on the right track but we must stop the self destructive behavior that currently drives some of our party.
Mitt's an east coast moderate but he is a million times better than giving the radical sycophant communist another four years to destroy our country. Keep the House, take the Senate and we will control our destiny.
The House and Senate are the keys to the machine.....spend time getting conservative congressmen elected and everything else will follow. This crap of destroying Romney is either insanity or liberals acting like conservatives. The horse is out of the barn.....time to unite and take down the fraud that is destroying everything we hold important for our country, our families and our future.
Good grief! Dream on, pal.
Just make sure you vote the right way on Nov. 6th.
Personally, I am not, and will not vote for Romney. That said, he has to be the nominee. He won the primaries that’s all there is to it. If by some parliamentary chicanery the RNC were to choose another candidate the message to voters would be simple: Don’t bother, we know what’s best for you.
The idea itself is evocative of the Communist Party or the Nazi Party, where the party itself was more powerful than the sum of it’s individual leaders.
JBH
Powell is a loathsome hypocrite. He’s voting for Obama anyway.
He would be a turnoff on the ticket.
Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored with all the pathetic, repetitive, sanctimonious anti-Romney posts.
That’s why I don’t come here as much as I did in the previous 15 years of my membership here.
It is only trailing wisps of its former glory.
I agree Altura
I agree with you. I hope there is a revolution at the convention. The GOP establishment are worse than the Dems/commies becuase the GOP is supposed to be conservative, whatever that is supposed to mean nowadays. Nothing, I guess. How about Constitutionalist?
How very true, bro, seems only White Republicans can be impeached with Democrap approval. We have an ineligible fraud affirmative action bastard commie in the White House because Democraps love that sort.
(1) Put not your faith in princes (neither Romney, Gingrich, West, nor anyone else).
(2) Power corrupts, so spread the power among many, many conservatives (the most conservative candidates with a reasonable chance of winning).
(3) Keep the pressure on the winners because, after all,
(a) Power Corrupts; and
(b) We Should Not Put Our Faith In Princes.
These strange fantasies are not helpful. In fact, they have the whiff of trolling.
I agree. This idiocy is what has turned this once stellar forum from serious, intelligent discussion to the unhinged ramblings of cranks and petulant children totally divorced from reality.
And yet, you continue to piss on these posts. Why is that, I wonder?
“And yet, you continue to piss on these posts. Why is that, I wonder?”
I wouldn’t use that particular language, but I wonder also.
Perhaps you harbor a secret crush for Mitt?
If we do that LJ, we should stop having primaries and just let committees choose the nominee. There would be no further point in allowing the little guy (read voter)the illusion that his vote somehow counts.
I’m not voting for Romney. I’ll probably just leave the top of the ticket blank. However, Romney did get more votes in the primary than the other guys, and the voters who did vote for him, no matter house misguided, deserve to have their voice heard. Flipping the bird to everyone who cast a ballot for him would just make things worse. Anyone who thinks this through even a little bit should be able to understand that.
In the past FR was more of a mainstream conservative/Republican site that could draw on a wide audience, now it seems to cater more to the fringe. Dunno if that is just because there is more choices out there these days, or if it is because this was officially an anti-Romney site for awhile.
These folks that still believe Romney can be stopped at the convention are simply not living in the real world. They've stepped off into some fantasy universe of their own making where conservatives are going to march with pitchforks on Tampa and order the RNC to change the rules and nominate a candidate they prefer (Palin seems to be the favorite option for these people). Ofcourse none of this is going to happen, but they refuse to give up the fantasy. It's actually sad to see, but there are dead-enders like this every election cycle. Some of them will know better next time, only to replaced with a new bunch of people unwilling to face political realities
” - - - I hope there is a revolution at the convention.”
Thanks. If the RNC continues to be ‘stuck on stupid’ by endorsing the “safe” mealy-mouthed RINOs, they will continue to lose elections.
Since few have made helpful suggestions to keep Romney from being DUMPED in Tampa, I will start it off with this one:
” Romney, Romney, Romney, stop trying to win your Prep School Class Presidency, and get some fire in your soft belly to destroy Obama in a LANDSLIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Perhaps you harbor a secret... or not so secret... nastiness within your character.
I think you do.
